We were having a very busy day going through the Met., then walking through the Park. We happened upon the place and went in. It was a cool, clear, brisk late October day. The place was not very crowded at all.

We had a small version "afternoon tea". The service was excellent and the wait staff was very cheery (esp. for NYers). My daughter still remarks about that delightful afternoon we spent there and the very pretty setting! Maybe just there at the right time.

I feel that about alot of places Sandy,

you go in with no pretensions, no assumptions that you'll get your money's worth and just enjoy yourself in a beautiful setting within the park.

Though, the food like the rainbow room, did suck =)
