Shipping wines question - request for help

I have a question/request for help from the members of the forum. I posted some wines yesterday in the Buying & Selling section that I am selling and got a few responses today from forum members that live in different states. I am nervous about shipping wines and was wondering if those who have purchased wines from other members of this forum would advise me on the correct payment and shipping procedure. I am under the impression that I should wait for any check I get to clear my account and then ship the wines in styrofoam containers with newspaper around them via fed-X. Is this correct and is there anything additional I should know?
