The second season starts a new chapter, iirc. I also seem to recall that the second season isn't quite as good as the first. But the third season is excellent (and a direct continuation of the second).

I may have the seasons mixed up. Season 2 may be a continuation of season 1. And season 3 and 4 (and soon 5) are a new chapter in the characters’ lives.
