I am a complete newbie at this, so I really appreciate your help. Let’s say I am in the market for a vintage wine, and a dealer says the item is “pre-arrival”. Does that mean that usually it is going to come from the Chateau? I looked at a 1959 Yquem, and I saw pre-arrival listed. I know, I could just call the dealer, but I wanted to get some info before I look completely stupid. Do a lot of the vineyards keep their stock for decades after harvest? It seems almost too good to be true.
I’ve read a fair amount about wine fakes, and this would seem to be the best way to go (order something that has been at the Chateau all this time).
Thanks in advance.
