Reply to "October 2014: What Are You Drinking?"

Took off last Friday with a couple of fellow seafood/shellfish lovers on a 4-day gorge-and-drink weekend up north. Great way to celebrate my birthday this year. In the back of the SUV, we were loaded up with a truly impressive supply of Nova Scotia lobsters, king crab, and several boxes of oysters (Kusshi, Raspberry Point and Fanny Bay). For variety and palate relief, there was also a bunch of steaks. Wines served were:

Given some of the negative comments about 2003 barolos, I was curious how the Scavino wine would perform ... and I was happy to find it drinking quite nicely for their low-end blended Barolo.

For me, the two best wines were the 2011 Emmerich Knoll Ried Schütt Dürnsteiner Riesling and the 1997 Lamaione.
