Yea, teams should be playing D like the Magic Johnson Lakers and Larry Bird Celtics did every time they met each other in the NBA Finals, amirite??!!?? You know, when every game played between the two but one had both teams scoring triple figure points.

The 1987 Finals matchup in particular should be required reading for every defensive-minded coach. That's when the Lakers closed out the Celtics in Game 6 by holding them to 93 points, which was the only time in their Finals matchups in the 1980s where either team scored less than 100 points. But the tone, direction and foundation of that epic defensive showcase were clearly laid in Games 1 and 2, when LA focused their defensive energies in grind 'em out victories over Boston. The final scores of 126-113 and 141-122 do nothing to convey how stellar the D was that both teams were playing on those nights.

I don't get it. So you are saying 86? I remember a much more physical game being played after that
