Planes, Trains and Eric
I've been on a serious Clapton kick recently after having seen the documentary A Life in 12 Bars, which is worthwhile. I was big fan of his music up until about 1980 when I got tired of him aping JJ Cale and never bought anything else afterwards. The first song is Tell The Truth and as the lyrics suggest, he's not fooling me. Pale version of a great song and it's downhill from there through an insipid version of Crossroads and that acoustic version of Layla which I cannot stand. That's as far as I got. Too painful.
In one of the interviews he talks about retiring as he was approaching 70. Yes, please. Stop now.
