futronic posted:otw posted:Up at the cottage for a seafood weekend. Night 1: Gigas and Raspberry Point oysters, Littleneck clams (both raw & steamed), salmon and scallop ceviche, King crab legs washed down with:
2013 & 2015 Raventos i Blanc Cava Gran Reserva de la Finca
2007 & 2008 Recaredo Finca Serral Del Vell Brut de Brut
2012 Liquid Farm Chardonnay White Hill
2007 Montelena Chardonnay
2013 Rivers-Marie Occidental Ridge Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
2008 Evening Land Pinot Noir la Source Seven Springs Vineyard
2004 Thomas Pinot Noir Dundee Hills
All the wines were good. For me, it was a toss-up between the Thomas and Evening Land.
How was the 2008 Recaredo Serral del Vell, and how did it compare to the 2007? 2008 was an outstanding vintage in Sant Sadurni, but everything Recaredo rocks. I haven't opened any of my 2008s yet.
They were both really good. The 2007 Recaredo might have been a little more minerally while the 2008 seemed a little more bready/yeasty. Both excellent with more evolved flavours compared to the two Raventos..
