This. While certainly better than those pathetic $1 or $2 off system-wide "sales", these 20-30% store specific discretionary discounts are few and far between and involve inventory that are slow to turn over.
Although you might find a gem every so often, there are many duds as there's a reason why they were stale inventory in the first place. I usually buy them to try that I otherwise would not have had interest in if not for the discount.
I live not far from the Laird store and visit it religiously but, from a wine buying perspective, would be happy to trade places with those living near the Quebec border. Nowadays, in particular for higher end wines, SAQ has better pricing in general.
