Thanks for the response. Well, I've already got reservations at Kuleto's and with it being basically at our hotel, it is very convenient. I've heard great things about Scala's, though I've never been. Hadn't heard of Perbacco though, and their website isn't working right now (and your link is correct).

I don't know too much about Italian wine, and my experience is basically limited to what I've tried in Italy and brought back with me. I can't recall any specific Barberas that I've had, but I'm thinking I'll take your advice on that one. $69 bucks seems like a good deal based on your recommendation.

Cool. The Perbacco website is working now, for me, by the way. (You need to be running flashplayer on your browse to view it, I think.) Next time you are staying downtown SF looking for Italian, it is a great option. They honestly have the very best salami I have ever tried -- the one with the fennel.

FWIW: I just went back through my notes... I've had the '99, '00, '01, and '03 Sandrone Barberas all several times. Somehow, for some reason, I seem to have blanked on the '04, though I was sure I'd had it. '04 is a great year for Barbera; I like other favorite producers' Barberas just as much, if not more, in '04 than in '03. It was the '03 Sandrone that, on one occasion, bested a '96 Groffier Bonnes Mares. So I completely stand by my rec and absolutely that is the wine I would order off of the list. I just cannot confirm for sure that I have tasted it.

Have fun!

Sounds good!

Thanks again.
