Each of the Walker blends is fine. I won't say that there are "better" whiskys for the price out there, but there are some I'd rather have. Try out the Aberlour 16 year, or any of the Glenmoragie's that receive special wood treatment. They have a Sauternes finished scotch now that I haven't tried, but the old standards off theirs are port, sherry, or madeira cask-finished and all are good. I would look to Irish Whisky as well, and suggest Red Breast, a 12 year single pot still that can be found for around $40. As a true single batch pot still there is bottle variation, but when its really on it can be a great dram. Also the Bushmill's 16 year is a more widely available Irish Whisky, single malt, with a candy orange flavor that rocks. I think that most of these choices are more distinctive than the Walker blends.
