Reply to "It's Official - DC has the worst drivers...."

Great story, irwin. As you also can attest, these drivers also cause considerable pain and suffering in addition to providing amusing stories! Frown

I was on my way into the office early one morning late last week and was following a passenger van heading north on MD 27. Said van had DC plates, for what it's worth. After watching him cross the center line 4-5 times in a mile or so, I backed off more than my usual following distance in case I needed to take evasive action in the event he did something really stupid. As he approached a very red light at around 60 mph, it became apparent that he wasn't going to stop. I layed on my horn, hoping to catch his attention before it was too late. Note even a tap of the brakes as he sailed right through the intersection. Thankfully, no one was coming the other way. I continued to follow him at a distance as he wove from center line to shoulder into the next town, where he proceeded to pull over in the far lane of traffic, stop his vehicle in the traffic lane and put the vehicle in park. No signals, no flashers no nothing. I grabbed the phone number from the back of the van and called his dispatcher to let them know what an idiot they had driving one of their vehicles.

Oh........the vehicle belonged to Metro Access, a division of the DC Metro system responsible for transporting disabled citizens to and from public transit. I've seen more lousy driving from these people than just about any other identifiable group in the city. If you have a disabled loved one in the DC area who needs to get to the subway, please.........call a cab!
