Interesting story.  I was born in Elgin, so it always intrigues me to see an Elgin Watch.  Althgouh, I had never heard of Illinois Watch Co.

Old Man, Illinois Watch Co. was a serious pocket watch company for the railroad firms after the Civil War. After the Great Depression they worked closely with Hamilton, made movements for Hamilton and I think were the exclusive movement manufacturer for all of the Hamilton rectangle timepieces.
