There is no need in my opinion, I just think many of us have things or hobbies we enjoy/passion that defy logic sometimes. I'm not a jewelry person at all, but have always enjoyed watches since I was a little boy. I rarely wear the same watch two days in a row, and not all of my watches would be considered expensive by any means.
I still have my beloved grandfathers pocket watch that I played with as a little boy. It was the only thing I wanted when he died at 99 years old. My grandmother told me it was always going to be mine since I was a 7 year old boy.
