Made a wonderful pumpkin squash soup with ginger. Not a lot of ginger but enough to off set the natural sweetnes of the pumpkin. It was well received especially in chilly Chicago.
Also, made a very rich beef stew with peas, shallots, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms and a delicious sherry/demi-based thickened sauce. I went full force and kicked in a small piece of Aztec chocolate to round it all out. My g/f loved it and I loved the Greek calzone that she brought over (spinach and onions layered in pita). Sometimes the most basic comfort food can chase the winter blues away!
