The Fields thing is interesting. JB is spot on with his assessment. While Kirby is clearly comfortable with his ball control QB in Fromm, a modern day Bob Griese if you will, Dabo and Saban went a different direction. Dabo had a reasonably good starter in Kelly Bryant but went with frosh superstar Trevor Lawrence and won it all. He probably could have reached the title game last year with Bryant, but he knew he needed Lawrence to beat Bama. Saban replaced Jalen Hurts with Tua in the 2017 title game, started Tua all last year, then went to Hurts to win the SEC title game. Now Tua starts and Hurts is at OU. The best way may be to be coached by Lincoln Riley, who seemingly can make a superstar with any QB. There is no simple way, and while Kirby could use some game day skills, I cannot fault him with sticking with Fromm.
