2009 Le Vieux Donjon CdP

Gave it an hour of decant time and writing this while enjoying a second glass about 2 hours after opening. Classic CdP nose of dark berries, tar, brush and black licorice with an amount of funk that I’m ok with but my wife isn’t a fan of. It’s a small component as opposed to overbearing. Some campfire also. Medium- bodied and the tannins seem fairly integrated with the acid though not fully resolved. Probably 2-3 years from being in the prime drink window. Flavors of dark berries, cherry, dried herbs, Turkish coffee and again black licorice. Easy 92 for me with some upside. I have another that I’ll hold a bit. Worth checking in if you have more than one and give it some air.
