Opened on Feb. 27 as part of VinT's Open That Bottle night. Decanted about half an hour before dinner (Osso buco with risotto Milanese).
Wow for the nose. Gorgeous floral, spice, vanilla and black fruit aromas. Thankfully the vanilla was not so prominent on the palate. Modern styled Barolo which I suspect saw a significant amount of new wood. Not my preferred style of Barolo but it is a really well made and delicious bottle of wine. Full bodied with black cherry, that nebbiolo tar and a long finish. A couple of hours later towards the end of the carafe the wine had changed becoming darker and even bigger. If I had anymore I'd hold for its 20th birthday at least. I'd say JS was pretty close to the mark with his 96 rating of this when released.
That’s sounds awesome. Good pairing too. Wish I was there -(
