Had with salmon tonight. Bought one bottle at the winery recently. The Estate is only sold there. Amity is located in Amity, Oregon, south of McMinnville. The vineyard was planted in 1971. Amity uses no new oak and this was aged in neutral French barrels for 10 months. I should have bought another or saved it for a few more years from now. The nose was closed on opening. After a half hour it opened up some to dark cherries and licorice. Dark burgundy in color, the finish was rich and powerful for an Oregon pinot noir. Not like a CA pinot noir mimicing a cab, just a rich flavorful Oregon pinot. I am not a fan of aging Oregon pinot noir, but I felt that this was one I should have put away for 5 years. Owner/winemaker Myron Redford did himself proud with this one.

I vacuum stopped the bottle and opened it up 6 hours later. The finish was more subdued. That was a disappointment.

MJS, I've never had an Amity wine. I remember when we were planning our West Coast trip, that you recommended a visit to the winery. Unfortunately, you recommnded visits to a hundred others and we never got there. The only wineries in the Willamette area we visited that were south of McMinnville were Cristom and Bethel Heights. Next time...

Just one more sip.

No, it was only about 50.
Let me know if/when you decide you want that 2001 Road's End?

Don't you want it? When we met Dave Grooters in Nick's in McMinnville, he opened a bottle for us after I gave him a glass of the '99 Martinelli Reserve. I was surprised how good the Road's End was.

Just one more sip.
