Outstanding Food and great company. Looking forward to the next one.

No real "WOTN" for me, but I did like the Rusdens very much & the Kosta Brown.

Thanks P & DJ, you Rock.

Ditto for me (the 2nd Benchland). Great food, wine and company.

WOTN for me would be the Kosta Brown closely followed by the Chookshed.

Powell, since we live so close to each other count on me to show-up often !!

... since you're out of the White Zin, I'll have a Boonsfarm on the rocks !

Many thanks Pyang and DJ (the food was fantastic as usual),

It was a very fun evening. Great food, company, and wine. Always the perfect trio. I was disappointed in the Les Pavots, but maybe that was bottle/travel shock? A few of us agreed it was not nearly as good as the '01. I'll be anxious to try it again down the road, maybe it will put on weight? For me, the Lewis Reserve Cab. was the WOTN. I think the '02 Lewis product is head and shoulders above what they've been doing already. I was pleasantly surprised with the Perrier Rose. Very crisp and refreshing with excellent acidity. Not the most complex Champange, but a perfect apertif before dinner! Also, very impressed with the '79 Yalumba Port...still has life left in it for further aging. Not overbearing or too sweet either (which is quite common with OZ these days).

Cheers,

-DRAB

Sounds like a great time, sorry I couldn't make the last minute trip up there. Hopefully next time. Don't let it go to his head (I know, too late), but that that funky DJ dude can cook Smile

First of all, what's with "over", second, how come I wasn't invited, and third, how was Montus?

Sounds great, guys!

Was Laube really there?

And what happened to my invite?! Ah, well. I probably would have said yes and then backed out at the last second Wink

Gusbo, It has been really hard for me with Saurtenes since having the 01's so many times lately. This bottle showed signs of past seepage and was a 375. It still posessed a very classic nose but without that shunky funk I get from Suduiraut and Reiussec. I found a good bit of acidity and not much sugar. I member hearing the crowd mention that it did not stand up to the desert.

Ekoostik, I found the SQN quite subdude at first. I then tried it out of Speig Burg glass and it seemed to come alive. It had a nice deep color and a very thick palate. It did not remind me of anyother grenache I've ever had before. Once again, this wine is better on the patio than with food. I really liked the SQN but not $360 like. Wink For me, I prefer Neyers Hudson Vyd over this.

Including price consideration, that is.

Whiner, yes. I really enjoyed his company and he offered insight from the perspective of one who is under the gun for their thoughts and opinions.

JO,

You drive too slow. Wink

***
gusbo,

Thought the 1988 Guiraud was nice, but nothing special. Good acidity and fruit, but not very complex and short on finish.

By the way, I offered Jim the bottle of Tequila as a thank you per your instruction.

***
grunhauser,

First, I typed the menu per DJ Hombre. Second, I need your e-mail address. Third, I didn't get around to try Montus.

***
Ekoostik,

I bought two bottles from K&L for $120, selling the other one on auction.

***
Whiner15,

Yes, Jim was very enlightening on various topic of wine discussion and have an open invitation to join us on any given Wednesday, as with anyone else that's around. Smile

You are getting very close to making it on my exclusive flaky invitation list, which includes Pam Starr and one of my co-woker. Razz

pyang,

Future Mrs. Whiner's finals are coming up so I may be kicked out of the house as she is studying anyway -- so I'll probably take you up on your offer... Well, at least there is a 50/50 chance Razz

Just say it.............DA MOON! Now, and just to test my theory, try it again during the same phase, and be sure to tell me, if it's "HUGE & GOOD" again. I bet you it will be. Big Grin
In any case, I'm sorry to have missed a Montus, even if it did not show well.
And I'm sorry I've missed this little gathering you all enjoyed so much as well. Frown

On the bright note, I'm buying a new house and I promise to cook something for the locals as soon as I move in and settle down. Smile

Make a simple mistake of forgetting which level you parked your car on and you get mocked for life over it. Smile

The Sauternes showed fairly dry for a sauternes. When paired w/ the dessert, it tasted more like dry than sweet.
