I bought this last month on sale for $24. A very good price I thought. BHVineyard came into town and together with Otis and my wife we met for lunch at Amber in Westmont, Illinois. This is a new and rather nice American Bistro. I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. BHV brought his 2002 Pinot Noir so I thought another Oregon Pinot for comparison was in order.

This wine was comparable in quality ot the 1998 Archery Summit Premier Cuvee and the 1999 Archery Summit Premier Cuvee. Medium dark red color. A little funk on the nose when it was first poured but it blew off rapidly. I would recommend decanting this for an hour before serving. Firm tannins. Medium to full body. Notes of red and black fruit. A slightly chewy texture with some spice on the finish. 91 points.

VinoMe, thanks for the note. I am taking this to a Pinot Noir themed offline on Sunday. I'll have to see what I can do about decanting it.

Nice notes, VM. Thanks for sharing this wine.

I definitely agree with the decanting advice. The nose was a bit funky in the beginning. I got lots of sticky black cherry fruit in the middle and some peppery spice. A bit of a pinch on the finish. Probably needs a year or two to integrate, but clearly a very good wine. 90P.

Cheers,

Otis

This ended up being one of the disappointments of the night for me(especially since I brought it). It was one of the first wines we tasted, and thus might not of had enough time to open up. I will probably try and track down another to give it a fair chance.

Thanks VM-

The '98 and '99 could not have been more different wines. While both around excellent clearly different stylistically. If I may inquire, which is this more like or is it a different animal altogether.

And How do I get Le Cadeau?

Doc,

Email me at Tom@LeCadeauVineyard.com and I'll add you to the list. Thanks for your interest. The wine will not be released until the Spring, but it should be doing very well at that time.

I'm in VA Beach next week; unfortunately I'm there for a meeting and short on time. But perhaps could say Hello over coffee or breakfast Wednesday 11/24 a.m. if you are around? Just a long shot, but thought I'd offer. I probably won't be on the board much in the next few days, so if you're interested, please email at the above address.
