You're a dumb ass, McCain said that and laughed and then said, That will be an attack add tomorrow. It was said in jest yet you who take the Kool-Aid can't help but think it is what McCain thinks. Never thought I would defend McCain, I think both people running for pres. are morons and will vote for whomever is running for Pres. on the libertarian ticket. pissing people off since 1971! Well... I realized that I wanted to be the one eating the popcorn, not the one being watched, so I deleted a couple of my comments. But I will say... huh? This message has been edited. Last edited by: winetarelli, "What contemptible scoundrel stole the cork from my lunch?" -- W.C. Fields |

I know your comment was a veiled abortion reference and while I know it doesn't seem that we do forced Castration of sexual predators (chemical or otherwise), its an "internal organ" I don't mind if certain "monsters" were to lose control of theirs. Yea, I know, I took it to the extreme! |

Do you think that Sen. John Kerry (decorated Vietnam vet presidential candidate, who married a rich millionaire heiress), will criticize Sen. John McCain (decorated Vietnam Vet) for marrying a reich millionaire heiress?

Add Eau Claire to the list of big important states for The Chosen One. We are up to 58 states and counting now.
Moo I'm a dairy heir. Think about how stupid the average person is. Then realize that half the people are stupider than THAT. By definition 50% of the population is below the median intelligence level and all it takes to get elected is 50% + 1 vote. |

When McCain's first wife was disfigured in a car accident, he quickly dumped her for the rich heiress. Truth.
GOP likes to paint Obama as the out of touch elitist, when in reality he was living off of food stamps in his childhood and has worked for all of his accomplishments in life. Rezko or Keating 5? Which is worse? The Rove playbook has been passed on to McCain. You can expect unfounded character assassination games from now until Nov 4. |

Neither candidate is doing it for me. Let’s talk issues (and try to be civil about it). What are your biggest issues that you would like either candidate to address?
I think our biggest problem is government spending and lack of transparency as to where the money is going. There is a lot of government waste out there. For example, one of my college buddies works for a city parks and recreation department. He has held various positions from park supervisor to his current position of being in charge of all the individual park supervisors in the entire city (over 50 parks). He tells me he does about 30 hours of real work a week (getting paid for 40). The rest of the time he is playing hookie or just messing around in the office. 30 hours is up from when he was just a park supervisor, when he says he only worked about 15-20 hours a week. And it’s not just him. He said everyone in his 200 plus department is on easy street. This is even after some heavy budget cuts over the last 5 years in his city. To add to the nightmare, the other departments he deals with in the city seem to be on the same schedule or attitude about work. Now I know not all cities are run this way and some branches of the government earn their paychecks. But I fear there are far too many examples like my buddies city across the country. Transparency of where our tax dollars are going. This is way over simplified, but I would absolutely agree to pay more in tax and lower my current standard of living if I felt the money was being well spent. If I could see that money was being spent on education, our streets were safe, boarders were tight, social security was in good shape, deficit was going down, cleaner beaches, parks, common areas, smart environmental investments, fix the falling American farming industry (I read we import more fruits and vegetables then we produce, that can’t be right!!) . All that would eventually raise my standard of leaving and would be worth my investment. I know that’s all pie in the sky, but it’s ok to dream right? In the current set up, I don’t want to pay another dime in taxes because I don’t feel confident in where it is going. Don’t get me started on welfare. My wife’s parents came to this country from Korea with no money and not being able to speak a lick of English. 30 years later they speak perfect English, are successful, and put 2 kids through UCLA. What was their secret, oh I know, hard work!! What a concept. Rant over. What we need are more tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% of Americans, so that our Deficit stays as deep as it already is?
Haven't we been down that dismal road for the last 8 yrs? |

Can you give an example of some of the tax cuts you are referring too? Every time I do my taxes I’m reminded that I’m phased out of contributing to a roth, or being able to take losses on rental property. Those don’t sound like tax cuts to the wealthy to me. “What is the soup du jour?"...It’s the soup of the day..."Mmmm, that sounds good, I’ll have that” - Lloyd Christmas |

Oh, I saw the clip. I also saw the ones where he laughed when he sang the "Bomb Iran" song, and where he laughed when a woman at one of his rallies refered to Hillary as "the bitch." sean7, you might want to look back at my post on page 1 before you go off half cocked. That, or wait until the alcohol wears off. Don't worry, I know rhetoric, pandering, character assassination, etc. when I see it. As usual, I do not care for either candiate, either. You may vote for whomever nameless person you want. I just know I don't want four more years of this crap. *********** You never see crazy people walking the streets, screaming about atheism, do you? |

fcs,
Nice try. Revenues have been at record levels since the tax cuts. WE have too many people not pulling their weight and freeloading off the rest of us. LIke Obama was when he lived on food stamps. Spending is out of control. Period. Democrats and Republicans alike are guilty, as are all Americans who wish for the taxes of their fellow citizens to be raised so they can live on the dole. What's wrong with you? Why do you want to see hard working people's money confiscated just because they have been successful? You should be ashamed of yourself. Obama has lived a priveleged life - far beyond that of many, many people, from attending the very exclusive and very expensive Punahou High School in Hawai'i, to his Ivy League College education. ********************************************** "Asking government to fix this crisis is like asking the arsonist to put out the fire." -Thomas Sowell |

obama has had a privileged life b/c he got an education. That was his ticket, just like it is for most people.
Deficits have NEVER gone down from tax cuts, and the Chinese own our a$$es via our massive debt. If food stamps bother you, you have a problem with being a wee bit selfish my friend. Wealth is not trickling downward. |

They don't do down with tax increases either. If revenue does increase (which is debatable since the economic growth takes a hit), it gets spent. About 10 years of the government growing at 1/2 the rate of GDP growth is what is needed....then we can possibly discuss reducing the deficits. |

fcs,
Deficits are not created by tax cuts, either. They are caused by spending too much money. My only problem with food stamps is that I see no enumerated right to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to feed people in the Constitution. I also believe that when people pass off their basic responsibilities - feeding one's self, attending to one's own physical health, securing one's own housing, the initiative of the individual is diminished. I see no way that an able bodied person not paying his own way can be a good thing for that individual or for the society. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. ********************************************** "Asking government to fix this crisis is like asking the arsonist to put out the fire." -Thomas Sowell |

Actually the wealthiest 1% are paying a larger share of the tax burden now than at the end of the Clinton administration - 37.4% for the year 2000 vs 39.9% for 2006 (source) . Since your proposition has been demonstrated to be false, can we assume the opposite is true - high taxes on the wealthy have caused us to be on this "dismal road". Got acid? @@@@@@@@@@@@ Everyone has to believe in something. I believe I’ll have another glass of wine. |

Come now Purple Teeth you should know not to let facts get in the way of ideology. If we only relied on the truth what would liberals be able to talk about?

Bush 41 raised taxes, got hammered for it, but did lower the deficit.
Clinton did it and finished the job. Hundreds of billions of surplus. Bridges to nowhere and ginned-up wars burn a lot of cash, like 10 billion a week and counting. Don't worry it's on credit, your grandkids will cover the check. Liberals this, liberals that. Whatever. The kneejerk namecalling does nothing. Expanding the taxable base to a larger population base will not lower your lifestyle, but WILL help our government get out of debt. Uncontrolled spending is not an option for the next Administration. |

Agreed. Raising the percent that the super-wealthy are being asked to pay by a percent or two will not put them (you?) in the poor house. They/you will still be able to afford that second vacation home, or Jeroboam of Ausone. My impression is that folks like cdr, while well intentioned, have never walked in a poor man's shoes. There do exist good people in the US who go on to make positive contributions, if given a boost up in times of need. One person who becomes better, helps us all. -IB PSA: Please report gratuitous trolling/flaming immediately (little triangle at bottom right). |

Except that what he is saying is to expand the number of PEOPLE paying taxes. I'm sure that's not what he meant, but it is what he is saying. |

Indy, in a perfect world, I would agree that it would be nice to live in a society that we can help someone out in a “real” time of need. But in my experience, it’s only 1 out of the 10 with their hand out that really deserve some help. The rest are just looking for a free ride. “What is the soup du jour?"...It’s the soup of the day..."Mmmm, that sounds good, I’ll have that” - Lloyd Christmas |

Indy,
wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. There are very, very few perpetually poor people. Countless studies show that almost all of us pass through poverty for a very short time on our way up the economic ladder. In other words, most people make it on their own through hard work. Why do you see programs that keep people comfortable in poverty as compassionate? There is no provision in the Constitution for the Fedreal Govenment to hand out charity. Every charitable "entitlement" program is riddled with graft, waste, fraud and abuse. The governemnt is incapable of helping the poor. The Framers knew this and crafted a Constitution with enumerated powers that are very limited in scope for the branches of government. Your intentions do not make you better than others, Indy. It's the results that matter. Welfare programs have created a criminal underclass of young black men, have destroyed the black family and have divided the American people. Class warfare is a tool of totalitarians throughout history and that's all it is now. The government is here to protect the life, liberty and property of ALL Americans. I'm a little tired of hearing about democrats yacking about fighting for "working families," while seemingly excluding those families who, through hard work, sacrifice and development of God given talents, have prospered and earned wealth. Is a cardiothoracic Surgeon, his wife and children a "working family," or does his large salary and comfortable material circumstances make him unworthy of government protection? Do you so cavlierly take a larger portion of his hard earned wealth with no moral qualms at all? Shame on you. This message has been edited.
