Well we had the top 5 list followed not too long after by the bottom 2 list. Currently there's a thread of TV recommendations, so what are shows that are popular that you just aren't into. For me...

Lost-Just never grabbed me...glad to see it finally going so maybe my friends will shut up about it.

Family Guy-In my opinion, Family Guy is perhaps the most overrated comedy to ever hit the airwaves. Don't get me wrong, it's good for a laugh every once and a while and I loved the show the first few seasons, but if you've ever seen the episode of South Park(which as a show is funnier, more intelligent and far better social commentary) that rips on Family Guy, you'll never look at Family Guy the same. The problem with Family Guy is hardly any of the jokes ever derive from the plot(although plot is a word that should be used loosely in conjunction with Family Guy) The jokes are almost always based on some ridiculous interjection that has little to nothing to do with what's actually happening in the episode. In my opinion the style of comedy is getting very dull and requires far less intelligence or comic ability to write than actually writing a complete episode with a plot and jokes that derive from that plot.

I'll play.

The Real Housewives of anywhere or any of those other ridiculous "Reality" shows.

Family Guy, definitely. My coworkers often show me good clips, but they're just that, clips. Hard to sit through a whole episode.

Tired of LOST a couple of seasons ago. Yawn.

Mad Men. I have a hard time relating to the show on several levels. My wife loves it though.

I cannot stand American Idol. I never watched it and as it got popular it just annoyed me more and more. This is my #1 anti-show.

One 'regular' show I cannot stand is Grey's Anatomy. I watched it for the first 2 or 3 seasons and enjoyed and then I had to cut it off. I think that says a lot when I stop watching a show because usually I will stick with a show even when it sucks, like I did with The Sopranos.

I watch a lot of TV (probably an average of 2 1/2 hours per day), but very specific shows.

Popular shows I don't like include:

-All reality shows that are not on the Food Network and don't have the word "Apprentice" in them.

-Lost, Fringe, CSI: Anything, Law and Order: Anything (loved the "original" 10-15 years ago, though), ALL current network live action SitComs with the exception of 30 Rock (which I still don't watch), anything that takes place in a hospital with the exception of House (which I still don't watch)...

I gave Fringe a chance, but it blew.

Shows that are food based? Or on the food network?

Top Chef comes on Bravo and there are some pretty good "foodie" shows on the Travel network as well.

I used to really enjoy the beginning stages of American Idol for the bad auditions and people who would flip out after they were told they sucked, but now after what...6? 7 seasons? It's gotten so redundant and I'm skeptical of pretty much everyone that goes on there and bombs, it's not funny if you're sucking on purpose.

Well now I understand. I couldn't believe that anyone would publicly admit to having such a poor sense of humour to prefer the irrelevant South Park to the greatest show in the history of man. Now you say that you enjoyed Idol, it's all clear now. Razz

Surely you jest, sir. South Park is on such a higher plane of comedy than Family Guy. Do yourself a favor, log onto southparkstudios.com and watch season 10 Episode 3 and 4. Set yourself free.

What higher plane is that, the not funny one? South Park spends a half an hour building up to it's last line, which sometimes may cause a slight chuckle. Family Guy on the other hand you have to watch over again to get all the jokes that you missed when laughing yourself silly. In the list of cartoon sitcoms FG is in it's own class, Simpsons is clearly first of all the mere mortal shows with SP fighting it out with Bevis and Butthead for runner up. And I don't want to hear from any douchebag hipster about Rem and Stimpy or Spongebob, they are just stupid.

True Blood

Ok, before some people throw eggs at me, let me explain. The pace is way too slow, except when they fast forward x10 the vampire movement.
It is a smart way to create an fictional racism issue to avoid upsetting people in real life, but the story just doesn't do it for me.

I haven't laughed out loud at Family Guy in a couple of seasons. Yeah, you really have to watch it over and over again to get jokes that they beat into a bloody pulp like "The Bird is the Word" or "The Angry Chicken". Seriously, the jokes are all interchangeable and irrelevant to the plot, thus poorly written. South Park is some of the best political and social commentary on television. Family Guy is such a one note show, whereas South Park has episodes that are subtle high brow comedy and others that can still please the lowest common denominator(i.e. The Family Guy crowd). South Park contains more intelligence in one episode than Family Guy does in it's entirety. Seriously, watch those two episodes, season 10 episode 3 and 4, you'll see Family Guy for what it really is.

Dude I've seen those lame episodes, oh wait maybe you aren't a dude. That must be it, my wife doesn't get Family Guy either. I bet you don't think the Stooges were funny.

Bird is the word was an awesome episode, I'm sorry you didn't understand it. As for plot, it's a freaking cartoon, why does it need a plot?

Popular TV shows that you are NOT a fan of:
JC, where to begin?

Any "reality" show with dancing, singing, dating, obstacles, mud, "celebrities", whiney rich housewives, trying to sell a house while only dumping $1K into it, or anything Regis Philbin for starters.

Any show on the WB, with the exception of Reaper. Any show on ABC, or CBS, and almost every show on NBC. Any show on cable featuring talking head pundits, or financial advice from idiots who never saw the recession coming.

I'm sure there's much more, but that's just off the top of my head.

Oh I get it, it's just not that funny. The bird is the word was perhaps the least funny episode they've done in years. It's a decently funny show and as far as plot goes, I see why we disagree on this matter, you're shortchanging the format by saying "it doesn't need a plot because it's a cartoon" South Park is a much more plot driven show, with it's jokes deriving from that plot and it's often commenting on events that have happened within the previous week or two. Family Guy on the other hand is nothing more than interchangeable far fetched references that have nothing to do with each other or the plot(or lack thereof) of the episode. An episode of Family Guy is about the equivalent of spending 23 minutes watching a bunch of unrelated, mildly entertaining, youtube videos. The show is perfect for how ADD we've become as a society, because it requires no real attention span to enjoy.

And for your information I'm a 25 year old male, very much in Family Guy's target demographic.

And to even mention Seth McFarlane in the same breath as the Stooges...jeeze. Roll Eyes

MTvino, have you heard which episode Fox ran last night? I thought everyone had heard. It was a certain avian show. One of ornithological interest. Big Grin

Curb Your Enthusiam --I found the first season dvd set at a garage sale for a few bucks, so I thought I'd give it a shot. What an appropriate title. It's kinda like a much duller version of Seinfeld, but without the humor.
