So the "old money" Russian mafia team beat the new money Arab oilmen's team 3-1.

I just want to see the look on the sheiks' faces when they realise what they've actually bought. "But we thought Manchester played in red..."

Looking foward to next weeks game. It is hard to watch a game that I want both teams to lose though. Razz

John Terry got an underserved red this week so he's out and the dive master may play. Man U has things falling their way.

Just finished watching the most one sided 0-0 game ever. Liverpool out shot Stoke City 30-2, corners were 19-3 and possession was 76% for Liverpool. I haven't seen anyone under siege like Sorensen's goal was since Stalingrad. What a stinging loss of points for the boys from Anfield.

Now it wasn't the referee, it was the linesman who called offsides. Smile

During the Man U game, when Ronaldo back heeled the ball to Rooney and he shot and scored, it was beautiful. That's why I watch the game.

Well....
I watched 8 yellow cards and a red get handed out during the Liverpool game that was on right before this game.

I don't think this "Respect" Campaign the refs want is very endearing.
Terry gets a red and Chelsea gets it annulled, so we can watch 8 yellows get handed out at their next match .
And yeah , the ref got it wrong and I understand he is suspended again. If the refs in EPL want to be respected, don't they need to get the calls right first, then get respect?

Didn't watch it myself, but it was the Merseyside derby. I'm only slightly surprised there wasn't a knife fight.

According to bbc.co.uk Styles apologised for the call and isn't suspended.

Yeah, come on now, he did call the Bolton manager and said sorry. That should be enough. Smile

Sheesh, an Englishman calling it EPL, don't pander to them Greybeard.

I haven't supported a Premiership team since 2001. That's because I'm a Coventry City supporter.

Humour must always be gained from the following clubs:

Newcastle United;
Tottingham Hotspur;
Manchester City

they always deserve it.

Respect must always be given to the following teams:

Manchester United;
Liverpool;
Arsenal

you may not like them but they have been winning a lot for a very long time.

Scorn, spit and bile must be poured upon the following:

Chelsea;
Dirty Leeds United

money may buy a title it will not buy respect; hacking the opposition is just nasty; Poppa Smurf.

Every real football fan's favourite player from another team should default to Jimmy Bullard, even if he does play for Fulham (sorry Dave).

Coventry you say, that's okay. The first team I ever supported, and still carry a soft spot for is Nottingham Forest. Frown

Good result today. Saw two of the most amazing goals, for entirely different reasons. They were talking about Robert Green getting called up from England; after the way he practically dropped the ball onto Kevin Davies' foot then clearly he's a natural.

But Taylor's free kick was a delight to behold. Overall we played as well as we did against the Arse and ManUre, but this time things went our way.

Amazing to see Hull in 3rd spot though.

First West Ham lost their shirt sponser and now the owner has had his bank nationalized. I guess they are not going to be buyers during the transfer window. It was reported that between just Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea, and Arsenal debt total close to $2B, and most of the smaller clubs are deep in the hole also. It will be interesting to see how the world banking meltdown effects the EPL.

It should be pointed out that ManUre were the richest team in the world until Glazer came along. He paid almost $1.5 billion for them, then transferred the remaining debt - about 60% - to the club.

Not sure what Bolton's debt is these days, but unlike some clubs we had to find the $60m for the Reebok stadium ourselves.
