As discussed elsewhere there didn't seem to be a dedicated Premiership thread around here, so I thought I'd start one. From previous experience on another U.S. centric Forum this action is likely to be met with derision and sarcastic remarks about the term "football", but I'm used to that and if I am to stick around here it's nice to have a few non-wine related threads to drop in and out of as well. Smile

OK, so let's get the ball rolling. I'm a Liverpool fan working in the North East of England so I quite like BOTH Newcastle & Sunderland as well (a rare event up here!). I do have a general dislike of Man. U. but other than that am fairly neutral, as long as a good game is played.

I am under instructions to never mention again a certain Arsenal result this weekend, which means there is at least one Gunner's fan on the boards. Any other closet "soccer" lovers out there?

Liverpool may have a chance this season. I expect a close race all season between them Chelsea and Man U. Arsenal is falling out of the elite teams I fear, and not just from their loss to Fulham. I don't think that they have a deep enough squad to compete for the whole season.

Big Trotters (Bolton Wanderers) fan here. Was gutted to see them lose to Toon at the weekend, especially since my ma-in-law is a Geordie.
I'm looking forward to a better season than last year.

VT, never underestimate the Arsenal! If Eduardo can come back healthy (physically and mentally) by New Year's, I like our chances...

It may be if I post anything else that is disparaging about the Gunners.

Well Robert Milan has signed Philippe Senderos, Arsenal's thin squad just got thinner. Smile And Milan's overly blotted team added another player to ride the pine. They now show 30 men on their roster. Eek

As much as I hate to say it, Chelsea has looked pretty good their two games.

Manchester United started off slow last year also, so I 'm not worried. Fletcher actually got play time and started firing goals at the end of last season so I hope he stays on his hot streak.

Purple looks like you lost another striker. Louis Saha is going to Everton.

Ouch! Arsenal 3, Newcastle 0. So much for the Toon armies brief moment of optimism for the season, and anyone's doubts about Arsenal's firepower.

Shock of the day? - I don't think Everton expected Portsmouth to destroy them at home so convincingly either.

Anyone else think Man City may suddenly get a few more goals with Jo and Wright-Phillips in the squad?

If not, certainly the arrival of Robinho signals they mean business. Seems like City just aquired the most important thing needed to excel in the EPL--a big money ownership group. This should get very interesting.

Robinho to Man City, that's just too funny. What I would have gave to be in the Chelsea offices when that was finalized. Razz

I loved an alleged quote from their new owners today "we're going after Ronaldo in January" Big Grin

Oh, and although there have been reports of Kevin Keegan being fired by Newcastle it now appears that the Toon still have him as their manager. Fun and games continue, shame there's now a 1 week International break!

Man City - Chelsea has to be a watcher, with Wright-Philips, Jo & possibly Robinho against the Londoners.

It'll also be interesting to see if the Toon Army do stage a boycott of the Hull game after the Keegan fiasco.

We're away at bloody Fulham. For some reason we always seem to do badly against Fulham. I was hoping they'd be relegated.

2-0 at the half, not looking good for the Wanderers Dave.
