OK Forumites, it's time to make your predictions...

I can't believe how vegas has the lakers as such a big favorite. I'd like to see Boston win so Garnett can get a ring even though our Timberwolves GM Kevin McHale who has ruined our franchise would be happy. I think the window of opportunity for the celtics is now or never where the Lakers are still very young. And by the way the Lakers were originally from Minneapolis.

Boston in six. Garnett deserves it, Kobe does not.

WOW! In the 1st half LA played great, but in the 2nd half they looked CLUELESS! The lack of defensive intensity by the Lakers was painfully obvious.
Lamar Odom on the bench at the end of the game? Give the Celtics credit for GREAT defense on Kobe, and fantastic defensive rotation, at the end of the game. Let's see how a young Lakers team responds to a little adversity. They have not lost the first game of a series in the postseason. Odom got his fifth foul. That defensive intensity that you were talking about would have been lacking as he would have to worry about fouling out. The Lakers lost the first game to the 76ers too. In order for the Celtics to win, all they have to do is defend home court. If the Lakers take game 2, the pressure is on the Celtics not the Lakers. |

Sticky2- They needed Odom's offense, regardless of his foul situation. He could have provided some "cheap" buckets off rebounds. The Celtics were KILLING them on the boards. The perimeter players for the Lakers were not "up to the task tonight", late in the game. You better give some credit to the defense of the Celtics. They were the reason the Lakers were unable to score in the 4th quarter. Kobe was 9-26 for the game? Too many contested jump-shots, and too few easy buckets around the basket. Phil pulled him right out after number 5, I am not going to second guess a man with 9 rings. He probably thought Odom with 5 was a liability as they needed to get stops first, then baskets, to close the gap. I am not taking anything away from the Celtics, they played well and they won. I am not jumping on their bandwagon after the first game at home which they should win and needed to win. |

the whole Lakers frontcourt was a non-factor the whole game, and were terrible in rotating defensively, especially Gasol. its no secret he's a liability against other big men as tall and skilled as himself, but that dunk at the end of the game by KG off the missed shot is a perfect example... instead of looking for a guy to box out he simply watched the ball the whole time.
keeping Odom in wouldn't have changed anything, he, Vlad, Luke and Gasol couldn't match Posey, Brown, Perkins & KG's intensity of getting boards... not that their rebounding hasnt been a weakness playoffs (and since Bynum went out) but the Lakers missed alot of shots in the 4th and couldn't do a thing about getting the loose balls... the whole team, Kobe included (and STOP settling for jump shots when its not going), is going to have to move better without the ball on offense (instead him reverting to taking it 1 on 1) and they're going to have to rebound better if they want to steal one of these first 2 games in Boston Boston deserved to win, plain and simple. and im glad Pierce came back... i felt terrible for him when he was carried off, having worked so hard to get the Finals throughout his career, i was glad to see him come back (but not nail those back to back 3's!) |

Basketball players are the biggest faking pu$$ies in sport. Yes, moreso than soccer players.
Pierce has to be carried off the court, and then he is put in a WHEELCHAIR!!! to go to the trainers room. Lo and behold, three minutes later, with a sleeve on his knee, he is back in the game. Hell, football players WALK off the field with torn ACL's.... By the way, nice start to the series for the Celtics.... Romeo and Juliet are together in eternity.... |

So true about Pierce last night. That was such a show.
There are some tough players out there, but there sure are a lot of floppers too. “What is the soup du jour?"...It’s the soup of the day..."Mmmm, that sounds good, I’ll have that” - Lloyd Christmas |

Was that game played on a movie set or in Boston? What a joke! And please, no comparisons to Willis Reed! "It's easy to grin, when your ship comes in, and you've got the stockmarket beat, but the man worth-while, is the man who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat." -Judge Smails |

Looks like the new Drama Queen ( took title from Wade) will be playing tonight.
How embarrassing! |

Halftime. I am a Laker fan but can be somewhat objective. That was one of the worst officiated halves I can remember. 2 ticky tack fouls on Bryant..Celtics shoot 19 free throws, Lakers shoot 2. Lakers not playing well but tough to get in rhythm when Odom, Fisher & Bryant all have 3. Celtics are allowed to play physical defense, Lakers get called for eveything. Hopefully they can turn it around- I just hate to see officiating have such a significant impact on the game.

Oh boy....
Lakers down by 20... The ship is sinking quickly. I still believe. They need to rub magic's bald head for luck. The Celtics are playing excellent defense and are shooting the lights out. The Lakers are popping brinks and their defense is non existant. Looks like they are going to have to win 3 in a row in LA. Now....where's that Screwpull? |

The interior defense of the Lakers is non-existent.
Leon Powe goes the length of the floor and dunks between two defenders?! Pau Gasol practically stepped aside to give him the lane! WOW! Maybe a turn of events will occur. 2 point game with 34.4 remaining.

The Celtics took their feet off the gas pedal.
The Lakers come all the way back, have a chance to win, but... How did Kobe not get the ball on the last inbound play? Pau Gasol is an empty jersey in the 4th quarter. Was Odom on the bench the entire quarter? 38-10 free throw advantage to the Celts. Kobe & Co. getting called on everything, and Technical foul on Kobe. For nothing.
Officials got paid well last night! |

didnt get to see the game last night except for the 4th quarter (studying for a midterm i have today)... it sounds like it's a good thing i didnt! more of the same... Boston held serve but it's disheartening the way its happened... the Lakers will need to do the same... im hoping that huge disparity that's been the case for Boston shows up in La La land tomorrow!
