We are headed to Destin this week for a week. Anyone know of any nice new restaurants in the area ?

We just got back from there, and that's a tough one. Ruth's Chris reminded us of a funeral home, even though the service was very good. I'd try Flemings Steak House; we had a much better experience there. There's also a Tommy Bahama restaurant that is good.

Lots of "beach bar" type places that have "drinking food". Fine dining is going to be pretty tough.

We ate at (in order of preference):

Beachwalk Cafe-no cork fees for 3 bottles
Harbor Grille-$15 cork fee(total) for 2 bottles
Marina Cafe-$20 cork fee(total) for 2 bottles
Gugliemo's-$15 cork fee(total) for 2 bottles

how was the food at those places?

Beachwalk is easily our favorite because the food is very good, very wine friendly,service is excellent and they have a terrific view of the Gulf. The Harbor Grille is fairly new but we had heard good things about. It is in the Destin Yacht Club building. Also has good food, service and view of the harbor. Marina Club is almost next door to the Harbor Club and is very similar. Beachwalk and Marina have Wine Spectator wine awards and the Harbor Club carries a similar Wine Enthusiast award.
Gugliemo's is a family-owned Italian Restaurant. We think they have the best Italian food in town but it isn't up to the level of the other 3.

We've had a condo in Destin for 25 years so I have eaten at most of the restaurants in town. Bistro Bijoux, Criolla's, Ocean Club and Copper Grille are other favorites of ours. 30-A has been bought by Destin Chops so I don't know if it is the same restaurant or not.
