This will not be a pleasant topic but I am trying to make some lemonade right now and hope this will help someone here or their extended families from needing to make lemonade.

In a nutshell, a grade school friend of mine recently attended the funeral of his 16 year old daughter who was riding in a car that was hit by a truck that had hydroplaned and lost control on a highway in Texas. Two people in the car lost their lives, both not wearing seat belts.

Please remind those you love to wear their seat belt. Just feeling numb over this situation and trying to create something positive out of a very negative situation.

Juicy- So sorry for your and your friend's loss- that is just awful

I do not understand why people do not wear seatbelts. I refuse to let anyone ride in my car without one. I have two young children and have taught them from the first time they were in the car that you ALWAYS wear a seatbelt...seems like common sense and then you hear about something like this.

I know people who say that they don't wear seatbelts because it's better to be thrown from the accident. Yikes.

I'm so sorry for yours and your friend's loss. I have two daughters and hope that I have impressed upon them the seatbelt habit.

My condolences to you and to those who lost loved ones. I know I don't even feel right not wearing a seat belt. I am glad that after years of nagging my father finally started to wear his.

I not sure about laws mandating it. But, I know I won't even drive down the block with out mine, and I won't move if someone doesn't have theirs on either.

Again sorry to hear of the loss.

Sorry to hear this, a very tragic loss. I can't imagine if my 4 year old son finn was killed in a car accident, He is my whole life and I don't know if I could go on without him. I always buckle up. People in the twin cities drive crazy and the weather doesn't help at all in the winter.
