There are about 6 cottages here. Great communal patio with a fire pit for a group, there's a park just down the street for dog walking (I saw locals there with their dogs) and the cottages are NOT doggy polluted (that one was for BoardO). Stayed there with our 2 labs last Fall. Backs up to the Napa River (they call that a river??).

This seems pretty nice and is priced really well. I am heading to napa in June and have this place in mind. However, is there only the communal patio? I don't mind people but since I am going with my girlfriend I would like a private outdoor area. Are there private patios on the other side?

Edit: Looks like they have private patios as well. How far is Calistoga from downtown Napa? Is this too far out of the way if I am going to be taking a taxi to the wineries?

There is only one communal patio, but there are only three units, I believe. My wife and I were there in high tourist season (september), and had the place to ourselves. It's not 4 star lodging by any means, but it's cute.

Calistoga is at the far northern end of the valley. There is not a whole lot to do there in terms of wineries or restaurants. You'll probably be driving to at least St Helena to do either, 20 or so minutes away.

You know what? You are so right. I only started a conversation by saying nice things, but was shot down by someone who had forgotton about saying only nice things...then...
it snowballed. Napa Valley residents and Californians and Dog Owners are all pretty nice people, I'll do my part to stay that way.
Have a dog-gone good day.

Sticky, there are a few nice restaurants in downtown Calistoga which is just a couple blocks away from that place.

Next week we will be bringing our 2 dogs for 1 night and staying at the El Bonita in St. Helena. They tack on $15 a night per pooch.
