The problem is great tracks like Road America won't work with Bernie's financial and other demands. Indy was a sort of compromise. It's a population center and racing mecca with adequate accommodations. Still, Bernie was compromising on his sanctioning fee, because he does want a U.S. race. Remember, he controls broadcast rights and signage, so the track has only the gate and (non-race related) concessions to recoup the sanction fee and make a profit. Not easy, and attendance had declined.

When is Hamilton going to learn how to drive in the pits? That was ridiculous. He also lost last years championship by crashing in the pits in China. Who taught him how to drive, his father? Big Grin

His ego is too big for his helmet.

I love him so much I turn off the sound during the interlocatrories. Roll Eyes

He is too immature. Thinks world owes him a living. Vettel is younger, and more solid.

As you can see I'm not cheering for McLaren this year. Looking at BMW or Williams

Massa first, Kimi second, Massa takes over the points lead. Hamilton out of the points and Kubica only 5th. A good start to the day, now the Azzurri need to do their part.

VT2IT, pretty boring race up front for the Ferraris Cool but some action further back in the field. If Hamilton hadn't received the 10 spot penalty AND today's drive-thru penalty, he could have easily taken the French GP. Oh well...too bad for McLaren. Wink

FORZA FERRARI !! FORZA AZZURRI !!

Well I don't think it was too boring for Kimi when his exhaust fell off. I think a boring 1-2 is just what they hoped for. As for Hamilton's penalties he got what he deserved.

They did mention that the race will be rebroadcast on SPEED, if you want to see the interviews.

Heads up. Here we go in England. Kimi with a new engine - without a penalty.

Maybe Hamilton will learn how to drive in front of home crowd, but I don't expect it.

BMW will push harder and on the podium again.

Coulthard is retiring at the end of this season. As much as I enjoyed watching him race over the last decade and a half, I think he should have retired a couple of years ago and made room for one of the younger, hungrier drivers waiting in the wings. In any event, he is a true F1 statesman and will be missed.

What a grid. Can't believe the line up for first 6 positions.

Hekki [speledd wrong I know] will screw up in first 15 laps, and lose again.

Good call F1wino. Heikki's inexperience was his only fault. He drove a great race, as did all the drivers considering the weather. But Hamilton's drive was the most impressive. His only real rival should have been Kimi, but Ferrari (and Kimi) decided to stay on intermediates, when the whether clearly called for full wet. If Rubens had started a little higher up the grid, he could have pulled off second place, maybe even first.

We now have a 3-way tie for first place in the driver's championship. I hope the second half of the season is just as entertaining as the first.

Ferrari problem is missing Ross Brawn. The should have put on new inters or wets. Renault same problem. Poor planning

BMW ? Kubica out Hei finished in top.

Will miss Silverstone. Donnington not that good, but will have a new track design.

Still had to contend with poor FOX TV and commercials. Will tape Speed for Wednesday race. Will be better but result will not change.

Predictions? I think McLaren looks good again, but hopefully Ferrari can do something. I'm not sure what happened to Kimi. Maybe it's a fuel strategy thing, but he looked a little slow. Maybe he's on a 'one-stopper'.

And did anyone see the post race comments by the top 3 qualifiers? Specifically Massa? I dislike him more and more each race. Too me, he just a cry baby. I think Schumacher should have stuck around, which would have forced Massa to lose his seat. Yeah...he can drive, but so can any driver when you put them behind the wheel of a red prancing horse.

Tomorrow's finish: 1. Kimi 2. Lewis 3. Heikki.

Mad Frown Mad Well that was not a good way to start my day. Massa had a great start, great drive and the fastest car all day. He was leaving Hamilton in the dust even before his flat. Three freakin laps to go. Mad

I think I heard the cliches "that's racing" and "it's not over 'til the checkered flag" about 10 times after this race. What a disaster for all the points leaders. Only Kimi lucked out, and he slept during most of the race.

I heard Renault is studying the film on Ferrari's second pit stop for Kimi. They still can't believe Kimi leaped frogged Alonso that quickly. They think Ferrari has a modified fuel rig which pumps out the gas faster. Confused I guess it has nothing to do with Alonso holding up Kimi for a million laps, then Alonso having both a slow 'in' lap and 'out' lap and Kimi setting the fastest lap time. That would be too logical.

I'm watching qualifying for the European GP. What do you motorheads think about the street circuit in Valencia, Spain?

Circuit will provide better passing than Monaco. Not as hilly. Average speed should be about 15 mph higher than Monaco.
