The Mega-Millions lotto drawing is for 216 million tonight. If my 2 dollar investment pays off, I'll be drinking better wine tomorrow.

To my surprise, past lotto drawings have not turned into wins for me. But I have a good feeling about this one Wink

That is an excellent display of positive attitude, and only one of the many reasons that I feel you are the best and most wonderful poster on this entire website. I've actually thought that many times, and was even going to say it, once.

Best of luck to you...

Buddy!! Smile

I only play the lottery when it gets above 100 million. I mean, come on -- sixty million bucks is just a waste of time.

I believe you are completely wrong.

He is as generous as he is lucky, and really, really smart to boot.

Now go away, and let me enjoy my little love-fest for a while.

Ageed. 60 Million wouldn't even fund the hairbrained scams my high school buddies would propose. You know, those high schhol buddies you haven't seen or heard from for 20+ years.

No kidding. Of course I'd share the good stuff at offlines, but I'd have to go into something like the witness protection program to hide from all my in-laws that would be crawling out of the woodwork. (Think those folks in "Deliverance".)

Actually if I won, my life wouldn't change much. I'd still visit this site every now and then. Can you get internet access 60 miles from the closest road?

Shockingly, I did not win the Mega Millions. No one else did so Friday the pot will be 267 Million.

I think I have figured out what I did wrong yesterday, so I shall try again.

I think your short-term strategy shows remarkable insight and phenomenal perseverance, both of which are qualities that I admire most while at the same time recognizing the rarity of finding them in one individual simultaneously.

They are next only to cleanliness and generosity.

Sometimes I fantasize about winning the lottery as well. I think I am going to start spending $10 a week.

Isn't the lottery just a tax on the foolish?

Yeah, you could say that. But would the guy who last won believe you?
Slightly related: I was in Vegas several years ago at the Stardust when I saw a guy hit it big on a dollar slot machine. This was back when they still took Eisenhower dollars, not tokens or computer cards. The staff packed up several thousand of these things in trays right next to him, and he sat there and calmly started to feed them right back into the machine. I left to see a show, but he probably pumped every one of them back in. I hope he was comp'd a free breakfast at least.
I wonder if lottery winners do the same? Is it ever enough?

Since the chances of winning the lottery are not much better than the chances of someone giving you a lottery ticket that later wins, you should wait for the gift and save your $2 bucks a week. After a year you can use your lottery savings to buy a good bottle of wine you wouldn't have otherwise purchased. You will be the real winner. I am sure of it.

Cool
" Lottery Odds Calculator Results"
Total numbers to draw from: 49
Numbers drawn per draw: 6
Total played numbers: 6
Total 6 number combinations of 6: 1
Odds of matching 6 of the 6 played: 1 in 13983816.00

Just a fun fact. Wink

A tax on people who are bad at maths.

Darlene: This is the "Mega-Millions" lottery. There are 56 numbers from which you pick five. Then there's a "mega ball" that goes from 1-46. So by my calculations the odds of winning are 175,711,536 to 1. And if you want the cash now you get roughly half. So until the jackpot reaches $350 million it's not worth playing.
