I'm going to be in downtown LA for a few days next month. Does anyone know of a good wine shop with a big selection?

close to downtown? hmmmm... how about closer? Wine House on Cotner on the westside... 20-20 Wines right up the street from Wine House has better gems, not quite the selection, and a little higher pricing... another store close to those two is Wally's Wine on Westwood Blvd between Santa Monica & Olympic... a little north east in Glendale is Red Carpet Wine, they have a nice selection... a little farther north west you'll find Woodland Hills Wine Co, excellent selection & prices... Wine Exchange is another excellent store but its the farther of the above from downtown, down in the city of Orange...

there arent any good wine stores i know of within walking distance of anywhere downtown, you're going to have to drive to all these places

Thanks for the info. Driving is fine, but I'm there for a conference so I don't want to spend too much time driving.

I can vouch for red carpet in glendale. they have a great tasting selection every week. last week was kistler chard...the weeks prior they had duckhorn, caymus, silver oak. good stuff...

heritage winery is another one. smaller than red carpet but they have some great wines there. also try mission liquor in pasadena. they have a good selection there as well.

Hey, a temporary move to LA is in the works for me for next year, and Woodland Hills Wine Co is my navigation system already.

A warning.........

Just opened: K&L Wine Merchants first So. Cal. store in Hollywood. Of those mentioned prior this would be closest to Downtown LA.

Another really nice feature of this store is that you can order wines from any of their NorCal locations and have it shipped free for pickup there.
