Where do these feelings come from? Are they inculcated by our parents from a young age? Is it nothing more than jealousy toward programs and teams with long histories of excellence, tradition, winning (blah, blah, blah)?

A victory for any of them can ruin your day; defeat for any of them will put an indelible spring in your step.

So, my fellow forumites, let your feelings be known. And please, add any amusing anecdotes and personal experiences which may have led you to feel the way you do.

Question:
Against which sports teams do you find yourselves rooting the hardest?

Choices:
NY Yankees
Boston Red Sox
LA Lakers
Dallas Cowboys
Notre Dame
Other (please list)

Frankly, I don't care that much. I love my teams but the reality of the situation is they've all had up seasons and down seasons. It's really exciting when they're in the chase for the Championship at the end of the season but most fall short and only one true Champion for this season ONLY wins it in the end. Odds are it isn't my team by sheer numbers and odds.

But as long as the Yankees lose I'm OK. Big Grin

As a Dodger and Laker fan growing up, I was taught to really not like the Giants and Celtics...

I don't like the Yankees mostly because of the many times they have ended the Red Sox season, often in heartbreaking fashion like BF Dent and the 2003 ALCS. After 2004 I'm better with,I feel like the Sox returned the favor, but I still enjoy having not just a team to root for but one to root against.

With the exception of Chamberlin and Rodriguez there really aren't any players on the team I dislike, and some like Jeter, Rivera and Sebathia that I really like, but seeing A-Fraud never win a championship and continually choke in the post season is enough of a reason for me to want them to lose yet again.

My favorite team is the team that plays Notre Dame. Never did like them since Ara was a coach.

Yankees are also on my list. They buy pennants!

Uh, were is Pittsburgh and the Philadelphia Eagles on this list?
Have you ever watched your beloved team play well and just flat watch them lose like Dallas did to Pittsburgh in the superbowls of old. And your beloved quarterback, Roger Staubach ,is paled by someone like ugh, Terry Bradshaw, who is incredibly obnoxious.
Eagles because they beat us and throw batteries and took out contracts on Aikman and have coaches like Buddy Ryan.
As a Cowboy fan, I'm feeling a little insecure and emotional now, sniff, sniff.

And you left of Chelsea FC

Not a fan of any of the teams listed, but I have to go with Notre Dame. Tie for second goes to UCLA and UNC.

As a native Chicagoan I cannot help but loathe the Packers. I think it's part of my genetic structure.
