Not a fan, but whatever happened to Vince Carter? I haven't followed the NBA since the early 80's, but every now and then I'd see some headlines on Vince, but not in some time. Is he still playing? He can't be that old to have retired can he? On the other hand, I keep seeing different team names that I've never heard of and wonder where the heck they came from (like the Wizards.....what the heck? What was wrong with Bullets? Or is that politically incorrect these days?)

Vince plays on the NJ Nets now. Though he's lost a slight touch of the leaping ablility he had, he is still a VERY explosive player! He has 30+pt games quite often for NJ.
And yes, the Bullets were not PC enough for our current society, so after a 'community vote' up in the Metro area, they went with Wizards. *sighs* -OTTnMIA Currently: a Montalcino-addict |

I have been an NBA fan for 15 years ( i am 21 so thats like all my life) Yeah, this series should be very interesting. I am looking forward to it. Does everyone in Canada hate him or is it only the 20,000 that goes to Raptors/Nets games? The series IMHO, is going to be decided by how well Carter plays in Canada. The first game is tomorrow at 12:30 EST on ESPN.

If we were to include the 3 major Sports; Hockey (Leafs), Baseball (Jays), and Basketball (Raptors), Vince Carter is probably the most hated professional athelete ever to have played Pro Sports in Toronto. He was the face of the Franchise and was loved by all when things were good, but that all changed when he demanded to be traded.

Call me crazy, but even though the Raptors have the higher seed, I don't think they have enough weapons to beat NJ over the course of a series. I know, I know, the regular season and seeding shows otherwise, but here's the deal...
Even though Jefferson isn't 100%, he's back! Add him to Kidd and Carter and those three can match up with any group of counterparts in the league. Nj was dealt a HUGE blow by losing Krstic, but Toronto just doesn't have the right type of make-up to pound NJ down low and make them pay for it. Other than Bosh (who I think the world of by the way, he's amazing!!) they like to play a perimeter game, and against NJ's defense I just don't see that working. It could go either way, and it should be a good series, but if/when NJ beats Toronto, I don't think it will be much of an upset at all... as a matter of fact, I'm calling it! Now granted, if Carter plays atrocious due to the pressure, that could change everything, but I don't see it happening. I think he may easily average 30 this series. Vinsanity! The best first-round series, IMO however, is Houston/Utah! This should definitely be a 7-game series that goes to the wire, and should be a blast!!! Let's see if Tracy can FINALLY get that 1000pd gorilla off his back and get a playoff win! I still miss watching Mike, the NBA hasn't been the same since. -OTTnMIA Currently: a Montalcino-addict |
