Boston fans seem a bit bitter. I'd think they'd be accustomed to losing by now.

I give the edge to the Yankees tonight; although, I would be somewhat concerned about Pettitte, at his age, on short rest. However, he is a very cerebral pitcher and will find ways to get batters out.

I am hoping for a Game 7. A series-deciding game is, imo, the most exciting thing in sports. I still remember Randy Johnson coming out of the bullpen in Game 5 of the 1995 ALDS. It was electric.

I am too. And I am hoping that Manuel will go to Cliff Lee for the start.

Tough to go to Lee at the start of the game, however, three innings might be the plan if Hamels is ineffective.

Not really a tough thing. It is his scheduled bullpen day.

Pitchers today have become such wussies. Bring back Bob Gibson!!!!

The weather in the Bronx should be ok tonight. But, if the Phillies win, it is supposed to rain on Thurs, with rain in the evening and a 15 mph wind, plus temperatures in the 40's.

Great point! Because Boston sports teams haven't won anything lately other than three superbowls, 2 world series' and an NBA title in over a year now. Roll Eyes

If that's used to losing I can't imagine the drought other cities fans must feel these days.

I'm glad that the Yankees have to deal with their lack of a fourth starter finally. The number of off days (i.e. far too many) in the first two rounds rendered it moot.

That said, they still are a terrific team with only three starters.

It sure will be interesting to see what happens, I think he has abused the 3 day starts a bit too much and it will catch up tonight. It should... but there is a lot of talent there.

Thing is... Pedro on full rest with so few games played is not exactly something that makes you confident.

What a freakin' hoot that it is Pedro on the mound tonight. What are the chances? Big Grin

back home...Matsui back in lineup...big plus for Yankees...Pedro may get roughed up badly tonight.

Being Pedro, he'll get over it.

BTW, the 3 day start thing is WAY, WAY blown out of proportion. CC was fine. NOTHING unusual about AJ's performance on Monday if you watched him all year.

Andy will be fine tonight.

Phillies go home disappointed.

I love Pedro. The guys not just a pitcher, he's an entertainer. Sports needs more guys like him even if he's past his prime. Being Pedro he'll just go back under his mango tree and count his millions if it all implodes. I love th story about him telling at the Yankees fan who was swearing at him in front of his young daughter and telling him he shouldn't be saying that stuff in front of her as he left the field the other night. Classic Pedro.

Tonight we see who's the better of the two past their prime late thirty year olds. The guy who used to be one of the best ever on full rest or the post season master on short rest. The game can't start soon enough.

Agreed. Pedro's long been one of my favorites. His baseball IQ and guile are off the charts (as is Andy's). It'll be a great matchup. Go Philly!

Interesting point they just brough up in the pre-game. If the Phillies lose should Utley get the WS MVP award? It's only happened once before that the losing team had the MVP but he sure made a case for it this year. Nobody on the Yankee's really stands out to me but it's not over yet I guess.

Only if he pounds out a bunch tonight in a losing cause. Not likely even then. He still had two 0-fer games in the middle.

Matsui definitely after tonight. Poor Petey. Looks like it's time to head back to the Mango trees. This pop into anyone elses head when they watched Pedro tonight?

Rick Vaughn: [Seeing Harris take off his shirt, revealing white suff on his chest] What's that shit on your chest?
Eddie Harris: [Looking at his chest] Crisco.
Eddie Harris: [wiping it across his head]
Eddie Harris: Bardol.
Eddie Harris: [wiping it along his waist line]
Eddie Harris: Vagisil. Any one of them will give you another two to three inches drop on your curve ball. Of course if the umps are watching me real close I'll rub a little jalapeo up my nose, get it runnin', and if I need to load the ball up I just...
Eddie Harris: [wipes his nose]
Eddie Harris: ...wipe my nose.
Rick Vaughn: You put snot on the ball?
Eddie Harris: I haven't got an arm like you, kid. I have to put anything on it I can find. Someday you will too.

Matsui is a pretty good candidate for MVP at the moment. I think he is batting over .600 for the series and has a bunch of RBIs.

So let me get this right. You pull Pedro who's throwing 75-89 all night, has good movement, knows how to pitch and is getting the big guns, other than Matsui, to swing and miss for some chump who's also throwing 75-89 and gets knocked around immediately and now you're stuck with one of the worst bullpens in baseball for 5 innings and even if you pull this one out some how they'll be spent for tomorrow. Great managing there, he deserves to lose this one.

I at least hope George is with it enough to enjoy one more time the fruits of his lifes work. An early begrudging congrats to the Yanks and most of their fans.
