The bad A.J. showed up last night and it was great for the Phillies. Hope Pedro has a little more magic in his arm tomorrow and the Phillies get to game 7, then anything can happen.

This Phillies team always seems play better as the underdog. Game 7 has a high probability of occurring.

Prediciton: Yankees show mercy to Philly and take care of business tomorrow night. Cool

If it goes to Game 7, CC vs. Hamels in NY, bloodletting! Eek

This was discussed on Sportscenter this morning (talk about a stark contrast in personalities between Jackson and Utley).

Being an American League fan, I don't watch many NL games during the regular season. I'm impressed by the Phillies. I didn't realize they were as good as they are.

Just one more sip.

Pssst. A sample of one is not satistically significant. Roll Eyes Anybody can win a short series. Stick to simpler concepts.

Uh ok. As J1m indicates, neither is none. Big Grin

Simpler concepts indeed. How about a simple if/then statement? If you work on your spelling, then you may feel free to address me about those "simpler concepts."

By the way, what does the apostrophe in your question mean? Also, the word is "has."

4 is a bit of a stretch don't you think? 1998-2000 Yankees are not this team.

I'll get back's too yous on the grammer. Thank's for the head's up.

I believe there are only four Yankees on the current roster that have won a World Series as Yankees. They are Jeter, Rivera, Petite and Posada. Damon played on a World Series winner in Boston and Burnett was on a World Series winner in Florida but did not play in the Series due to injury.

As far as which current team has the most players who have won a World Series, the Phillies do by a wide margin.

Very concerned with the pitching of the Yanks - the bullpen which was a strength for much of the year is now totally unreliable other than Rivera - I mean does anyone not expect Hughes et al. to give up runs when they are in there - I miss Nelson, Stanton, Mendoza and even Graeme friggin' Lloyd at this point -

Now there's a shocker! I'd never have thought last year's WS winners would have the most. I was guessing the Nationals. Roll Eyes

Which World Series was designated for less than seven games? Some may end sooner but I am not aware of any that have been the best of five. In each World Series, you have to win four.

Not every: "Best-of-seven has been the format of all the modern World Series except in 1903, 1919, 1920 and 1921 when the winner was determined through a best-of-nine playoff."

Board-O, you did specifically say This Yankee Team. Perhaps the 4 Yankee players who were on those teams during the 1996-2000 run qualifies the whole team for 4 World Series. Razz

What a pretty lousy argument comparing players from a team that won the championship last year with the Yankees or any other team for that matter.

The Phillies will go down tonight. The four Yankee players who were on the 1996-2000 team will play significant roles in tonight's victory. The Yankees will sit on a fat pitch from Martinez, and he'll be sitting on the bench by the 3rd or 4th inning. Then the Phillies will send Hamels and the results will be the same.

And when Petite gets hammered, who do the Yankees send in, the vaunted Cook, Hughes or Chamberlin?

Seems like a real big stretch to say this Spankees team has won four world series'. As stated they only have four players from that last team, a new manager and a new branch of the ownership tree running the show. If they manage to not choke this one away I'd say it's the first win for this new team, not 5th for the same old team.

That said at least Pedro's on regular rest. If he pitches like the other night they have a good chance of getting a game seven now that thier bats are alive and then it's anyones game with all hands on deck. I'd love to see it. Game sevens are the best thing in sports.

Pedro's on an extra day's rest similar to what the Yankees did with Cone in his later years with the club.

I'm glad that the Yankees have to deal with their lack of a fourth starter finally. The number of off days (i.e. far too many) in the first two rounds rendered it moot.

That said, they still are a terrific team with only three starters.
