Oh, I really did. I kicked the boys asses in flag football and games on the playground until I realized that long-term career prospects were dim and turned to gymnastics. Many a time did the PE teacher stop the game to point out that I was taking the quarterback's flag before he could do anything with the ball.

Let's just say they grudgingly gave me respect for it, which was good, as I was also the kid who would tell everyone her favorite Christmas present was her Webster's Unabridged Dictionary.

Een,
Wow! A female with brains AND athleticism. Tell me you look like Jessica Simpson or Jennifer Connely and I'm booking the next flight out of JFK for Chicago. |

Een,
Ya, both your husband and my wife.. LOL. Just having some fun with you. I couldn't resist, I thought it was funny. Its good to see there are females out there who know whats going on in sports. Not many female NFL fans around though. |

Geez, get a room you two. So, what's the Chicago/Colts score going to be Een?

I'll stop after this but must add that I know what you mean about most women not liking sports. I have no female friends who like sports. Most seem to be under the impression that intelligence and appreciation for sports are mutually exclusive. One friend wanted to come over yesterday and asked if we could play board games during the games. Um, no!

Indy, I'm still mulling it over. It really all depends on who get momentum first. I feel like if the Colts get ahead fast, Grossman might panic and turn the ball over a lot and it will be a blow out. However, if the Bears come out strong, I can see it turning into a closer game. I really am torn as to who should win.
What do you think? Do you really feel it will be a blow out or is that just team pride speaking? |

Een,
If I had a nickel for every time my wife said "Don't tell me your watching another football game" I'd have about $100.00. She wanted me to go grocery shopping with her when the Bear -Saint game was on. She's a cut up! Im sure you would have enjoyed a spunky game of Monopoly during the Colt Patriot game. |

Sure. I won almost everyone taking the Niners and Redskins and laying as many points as needed. Game was in the bag in the 2nd quarter. The Bills/Giant game was the first good one after about 8 years of bad ones. Remember that one Wiz? |

Een, Nah, it won't be a blowout. All that 72-3 talk is me channeling Bill Swerski. I don't know too much about the Chicago team, but the matchup is an interesting one, as both play some form of Cover 2 (lately called Tampa 2) defense primarily. I think this benefits the Colts, as Manning has had more exposure to it than Rex G, and tends to make quicker reads on these sets than when he faces a 3-4 defense (often gives him fits). That said, L. Smith is well advised to run a lot of 3-4 schemes, and have somebody in the backfield act as a spy to watch Manning on passing downs (Manning often telegraphs his throws), maybe picking off a ball or three. Grossman is simply outclassed, but the Bears are built around stout defense, and a punishing rushing attack, so Grossman isn't needed to put up crazy numbers, just limit mistakes. Key matchups to look for are the ability of the Colts O Line to open big holes for Rhodes/Addai, and Dallas Clark to get some key blocks on Urlacher (Dallas isn't known for his blocking), and the ability of the Colts front four defenders to stop the Chicago run from getting into a smallish (but hard hitting) secondary. If the Colts can do this, Grossman will be pressured into throwing interceptions. If the Colts go to a hurry up no-huddle, Chicago will suffer the same fate as New England did in the second half of yesterday's game. Prediction: Colts 27 Bears 17 Sorry for the dissertation, but those are a few thoughts. Let's just say that I've had "front row access" at A LOT of Colts games over the past eight years. That said, I'm really a Chargers fan, and it's tough corresponding with a Raider fan like Een. This message has been edited. Indy, your assessment was a good one. And, no worries, I divorced the Raiders years ago. Al Davis is too evil for my liking. For the last several years, as luck would have it, the Bears and the Colts are my favorites.

After the Pats beat the Chargers, I have to root for any team that offs them, so go Colts!

While most people focus on the offense and defense, the Bears have a decided advantage on the special teams. Granted, Vinateri (sp) is the all time clutch FG kicker, but Gould is money as well. Devin Hester is easily the best returner in the league and Indy gave up two big returns against NE. The Bears will either get a big play on a kick or force Indy into giving them good field position via a squib kick or the like. This can be the difference in a close game.
