Hello everyone, I am going to be up in Napa/Sonoma in August and looking to get some golf in while sample the wineries. What are the good courses in the area. I am a low handicap and looking for some nice courses out there.
Did the Chardonnay golf club used to have two 18 hole courses? I remember playing there about 8 years ago. It was pretty challenging on a windy day.

If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

The other course at Chardonnay is now called Eagle Vines.
I strongly second Hiddenbrooke.
Depending on where you are staying, you can get some nice packages at Silverado, and they have recently sunk a good amount of $$$ into the golf courses.
Not too far (on HWY 39 near Sears Point - Infineon) is Stone Tree. Some real nice holes on the back side.
If you want to play some of the biggest greens you will ever see, go up the freeway to Fairfield and play Rancho Solano. I haven't played it in awhile, but it used to be in good shape....

The Silverado Resort has two RTJ Jr. designed courses. I haven't played there, so I can't vouch for the courses. But the resort is located just a few minutes from Stag's Leap.
I concur re Chardonnay. Think one course was more public than the other one. Played on a windy day and froze my fingers.
Nice course. Fairways were a bit weak, by greens were quite a challenge, eececially the par three with a three tiered green, that you approched from the side. Ouch.

Those courses are known for being windy.
I've played both the North and South courses at Silverado (years ago) and second Dom'n'Vin'sDad recommendation. But, as he mentioned you do have to stay there to play.

Actually, you do not have to stay there to play the courses. They do have stay-n-play packages....

While organizers of a major championship would never be tempted to schedule there, the 9 hole course in Yountville is fun and quite pretty. And playing 9 holes means you'll have more time for wine!!

Thanks for the advice on courses as I will be visiting Napa in September with sticks in hand. Obviously, my day will be 18 in the morning, wineries in the aftrnoon and a top flight meal at night.

I just made plans for four of us to gamble and golf in September. We want to play on the way up to Reno on Sunday the 14th. Can you recommend a course in the vicinity of Sacramento? We use to play Twelve Bridges but it's now private. We would play Rancho Solano or Hiddenbrooke, but we want to be farther up the road when we finish. On Monday we have a tee time at Coyote Moon which we've played before and really enjoy.
TIA

Winchester in Meadow Vista. From my perspective the best course, also easily the most expensive. They were private, and went under so now they accept public play. http://www.winchestercountryclub.com/
