I'm going skiing in Whistler and going to spend a few days in Vancouver as well.
Does any of you guys have any good places to recommend over there?
I guess everything is pretty much over expensive in Whisler so if any of you have great tips that would be cool (or should I fill my luggage with my bottles!!)!
Thanks in advance!
Arno

Skiing will be great, but the area is a major tourist trap. The Whistler restaurants know they have a captive audience.

If you have the opportunity, stop at Shannon Falls between Whistler and Vancouver for a great photo of the water pouring off the mountain (if it isn't frozen).

Just one more sip.

Thanks for the tip Board-O.
That's what I feared: the restaurant to be really overpriced because of all the tourists...
I went to Vail 2 years ago and was pleasantly surprised so I hoped the same to happen in Whistler too ! I wonder if there's any BYO over there.... Roll Eyes

Well for one thing, BCLiquor (the provincial liquor monopoly) has pretty high markups. Website here. So the typical 2x+ retail is already looking unattractive.

If you pack your luggage with bottles and Canadian customs ring you up on duty, you'll pay with an arm and a leg.

I went to Whistler last April and packed at least 6 bottles in my suitcase. Bring as much as you can carry, wine is very expensive there. BYO was no problem when we ate at Araxi and Bearfoot Bistro. Best meal on our trip....Chez Seaquam in Vancouver Smile.
