Not sure if this is the right forum . . . but here goes! I was wondering if anyone could recommend a nice California wineries to hold a wedding ceremony and reception. One that can accomodate 150-200 people. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks.

Contact Ferrari-Carano, the most beautiful winery in CA, imo. You do mean CA wine country?

Just one more sip.

This is probably a stupid question, so please forgive me in advance, but, will your 150 to 200 guests also need lodging for your event? Or are they (Bay Area) local?

Didn't Justin used to do weddings until T-Bird visited and the place went on fire? Maybe they still do.

I've heard it is very difficult for wineries to get a permit to host a wedding in Napa County, you may have more success in Sonoma.

We were married in Napa in May of this year as a destination from Chicago. We used Copia as our reception site and Wine Valley Catering for the food.

We wanted a venue where we could bring our own wine with no corkage if possible. Copia was one of two places that would allow this. Copia was a fantastic venue...we only had 30 people though. I know they had the ability to host at least 100 in the Olive Grove where our reception was held and they have other places at Copia besides the Olive Grove. It was a beautiful site...exactly what we wanted. Here's a site that might help you...

You also might want to try theknot.com Northern CA forums. Lots of great info there.

If you have any questions, let me know...I'd love to help and have tons of recs. Congrats and good luck!!

Hello-
I am new to this site and actually joined because of some info you requested in your post, thinking I could help. I am a professional bridal consultant based in Sonoma county but am a preferred vendor in a number of Napa and Sonoma venues. While googling a few wine country words to see if my new blog re: wine country weddings came up, this one popped up instead, so thought I make some suggestions for you. Cheers!
Not knowing if you prefer Napa or Sonoma, the time of year, budget or desired look you might consider these.
Jeriko Estate
Trentadue Winery
Geyserville Inn
V. Sattui is doing weddings again, must check the number.
Chateau St. Jean
Cline Cellars
Cornerstone Gardens
Stryker Sonoma
Healdsburg Country Gardens
BR Cohn Winery

Just so you know I am a preferred coordinator at a number of these, but if you have not looked into them, they would be worth checking out. If your able to let them know you received their names from me, that would be lovely, thanks.

There are many issues to consider so these by no means may work, but hope you find some good information here.

Congratulations on your engagement!

My wife and I got married at a winery in Temecula (Between LA and San Diego). They have a lot of hotels (including a casino) for guests. It might also be less expensive than some of the more popular areas like Napa and Sonoma.

Be sure you plan ahead! Some wineries book up a year in advance.

Here are a few Temecula wineries that do weddings.

We were thrilled by our wedding location in 2001 at the Harvest Inn in St. Helena. The added bonus there is you have lodging for your guests. However, you do have to rent out a large percentage of the Inn's rooms.

Our second choice would have been The Culinary Institute at Greystone.

Hahns Fahden winery between Calistoga and Santa Rosa is a beautiful setting that at least used to do weddings.

As I believe someone mentioned above, many wineries if they allow weddings require you to cater the event with their wines.

We also recommend our event planner, Elizabeth Naylor of "An Event to Remember"

Great suggestions on Temecula, this is a gorgeous area! and would most likely be less expensive than the Napa Sonoma locations.

Harvest Inn is beautiful as well as Hans Fahden. Harvest Inn's max. capacity is 140 so not quite enough. Hans Fahden only handles 100 and 110 if you extend outside the cave doors. So the quick list above was just looking at sites for 150-200. There a few other sites which handle the larger number but this is a good start for the Sonoma Valley/Napa/Healdsburg areas.
Private Estates are a whole different ball game, as someone mentioned permits earlier. A site with equipment is a definate bonus on helping to contain costs.
A gorgeous day in Healdsburg!
Saw my cabinet maker this morning slash wine maker, anyone know about D'Argenzio Pinot? or Zin? he won four golds at the Harvest Fair but I have not tried any of the wines yet.

Avio Winery (near Jackson in Amador County) and Young Vineyards (near Plymouth also in Amador County) are beautiful scenic locations for weddings. Ironstone in Calaveras County is another top choice in the Sierra Foothills.

Congratulations!
