What are you listening to when you work out lately?

I need to reload my iPod and am looking for some high energy stuff. Got any good, rhythmic & adrenaline producing suggestions?

I'd think System of a down or Serj Tankian would do the trick

For some reason when I read the title, I got a visual of Olivia Newton John and Jane Fonda in spandex and leg warmers..needless to say I was worried to see what I would find...

For me, I like heavier stuff...Metallica, Tool, Pantera. Not sure that fits into good or rhythmic, but definitely adrenaline producing.

My current jogging mix is mostly punk and includes:

Eagles of Death Metal
Supersuckers
Slowfinger
Lee Harvey Oswald Band
Sex Pistols
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Ike Reilly Assassination
Hives
Iggy and the Stooges
New York Dolls

Nothing like the machine gun guitars of "Search and Destroy" to help you gut out the last couple of miles.

Sure PH,

99% of my IPod workout time is spent on my bicycle, on the local rail/trail. For the bike, my favorite stuff is rhythmically consistent, and long. I have a few mixes of house/techno music that fit the bill. While I'd love to crank away to The Mars Volta, many of the tunes have starts/stops that throw off the cadence.

If I'm really cranking up the heart rate or doing intervals, I'll work in some, heavy songs like classic Public Enemy, early Metallica, System of a Down, or if I really want to hammer: Lamb of God or Chimaira.

Otherwise, for all purpose riding, I have a bunch of uptempo stuff at the ready, some recent faves:

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Suicidal Tendencies "Institutionalized"
Smashing Pumpkins (mostly off Siamese Dream/Pisces Iscariot)
PJ Harvey's "Rid of Me" album.
KRS-One "Life" album.
Radiohead "Amnesiac" album.
Selected cuts from the "Kill Bill" soundtrack.

Starting a new workout routine PH?

Nope.... just dialing up the existing one. And running in 90+ degree, high humidity weather requires all the motivation one can muster...

Thanks for the suggestions! Cool

Saul Williams's List of Demands, recently popularized by the new Nike Sparq Training commercials, has made it into my running mix. Pretty catchy.

Metallica's "...And Justice For All" album has to be the ultimate workout collection of music ever made.

Smile Agreed. It is fantastic, and seems like just about everything is the same tempo (save One's intro).

The only thing I ever liked from them was "Ride the Lightning". Confused

They sure had good taste in cover songs though.

Currently listening to early Mozart symphonies. I don't need to get my pulse up. I just need to keep going.

Here are some ideas from Runner's World.

Some of these are already on my workout mix, and there are some I plan to add.

Ministry's New World Order. Nothing like the feeling that your in a boat with some viking yelling at you to row. However, I guess I'm a wierdo. I listen to pretty much any fast beat Jazz that I can find.

Admittedly, I'm a bit 'old school' in my workout music and enjoy pushing iron more than running. But my fav's to get pumped are:

Tone Loc - Wild Thing
Def Leapord
Metallica
Red Hot Chile Peppers
Club/Trance
