Hey all,

I am looking for some restaurant recommendations for the Burlington area. We have some friends who are turning 40 and we would like to send them a gift certificate for a nice night out. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also - is corkage allowed in VT?

TIA.

M

Corkage is not allowed in Vermont. As for restaurants I can't really help as I live a couple hours away from Burlington, although if you want to know about some dive bars I can recommend a few. Wink

WHile I can not give you spot in Burlington I can recommend two spots within an hours drive if I am not mistaken.
First place is Jackson House in Woodstock, VT. It is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever been to ever. Service, food, wine list, was all awesome. They had a 7 course tasting menu with wine pairing which was out of this world
Second place is Hemmingways in KIllington. Again they have tasting menu with optional wine pairing. Food and service are both a step or two down from jackson house, but Hemmingway's would go toe to toe with 90% of restaurants in Manhattan.
GOod luck, hope this helps.

Hi, it's been a while since I went to Burlington but sometimes at this time of year the Church Street Marketplace offers a gift certificate good at many of the stores and restaurants that might be a good option? Just a suggestion.

We've been to Burlington a couple of times and our best meal was at the Cooking Institute of America (if I recall the precise name correctly) restaurant on the nice walking street downtown near the lake. I believe that they have another location at the actual cooking school which is out of town I think. The wine was fairly priced too.
