Kevin Love is an absolute monster. Too bad we only get to enjoy that for one year.

You are most likely correct...but I think he could benefit from another year. I dont think he is really 6'10" and will have a tough time against guys who are taller and more athletic. But they said the same thign about Barkley. If it's any consolation, we do get Drue Holiday next year. That dude is awesome.

Was nice to see the Gators put together a nice quality win on Sunday. Still hard to tell how good the team is since their schedule this year has been pretty weak. At this point, a good showing in the SEC and possibly 2 wines in the tourney would be a great season for this young team.

Now Memphis is the only unbeaten team. The Tigers are very good for a city that has LOTS of problems. Everyone always watches their Tigers.

Now that the Super Bowl is over, we have to get this thread up to the top. The conferences are into the meat of their schedules, so the best teams should emerge. While I have not watched that much ball this year, I still have no feel for the final four participants. What is fun this time of year is to identify that mid major team poised to make that magical tournament run. The next few weeks should begin to clear up this picture (we hope).

Yep, watching the team CRATER in 4 of the last 5 games was tough to bear, especially with two losses coming at home against UCLA and USC.

It's uncanny how similar the U of O basketball team is to the football team: ranked first in the PAC 10 in points per game and 10th in points allowed per game. I'm telling ya... it's tough to be a Ducks fan sometimes! Eek

And it's not going to get any easier...

Thursday, Feb 7 @ Stanford
Saturday, Feb 9 @ California
Thursday, Feb 14 Washington
Saturday, Feb 16 Washington State
Thursday, Feb 21 @ USC
Saturday, Feb 23 @ UCLA

Currently 13-8 overall and 4-5 in the conference, the team needs some friggin' miracles to occur in the last 6 games to make the dance.

Duckfan,

I distinctly remember the smokin hot Oregon cheerleaders and dancing girls when the Gators played OU in last year's tourney. There are just some things you do not forget.

Pac 10 is tough all around. Who would've thought WSU would lose two at home to Cal and Standford. I am a little nervous for my bruins going to Wazzu tomorrow night without Mbah Moute and with the Cougs coming off two home losses.

Three years in a row the injury bug hits the bruins..I am hoping this year is like the last two and they get healthy in March. If they are healthy, I'll take them against anyone on any day. Collison & Westbrook are the quickest and probably best on-ball defenders (as a pair) in the country, Shipp is a deadly 3 point shooter, Luc is a match-up problem and a great defender and what can I say about Love...he is even better than I thought he'd be.

Where all of you college basketball fans!?!?!?!

Bruins had another string performance- took it to Wazzu in the second half. All of this without Luc.

Bruins are playing some great basketball right now. Pac 10 is just killer....outside of Stanford and UCLA, teams are just beating the crap out of each other. Makes UCLA's win at Stanford that much more important.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Duke isn't as good as their ranking. The win at carolina was big but without Lawson not too surprised. I just don;t see a team with no inside presence who shoots so many 3's going anywhere come tourney time.

The Bruins are emerging as one of those teams that can win six games in March. This year it seems that all of the top teams have flaws such as Memphis and foul shooting, Duke lack of inside presence (Tennessee is similar). UNC can be beat if Hansborough is held below his averages. I think that two of the final four will be from seeds 5 or lower this year.

As a huge, but objective, Carolina fan, I agree with your assessment of dook (proper spelling).

Very, very good team that plays hard and plays smart. They can shoot really well and they really defend well. However, they are easy to overmatch down low. If UNC would have kept pounding it in to Tyler and Deon, UNC would have had a better shot, IMO.

dook may win it all if they get a good draw against teams with no inside presence. But they are not a complete team.

Also, lightning quick guards can take their slow guards off the dribble and there is no big man to backstop such penetration.

That's why losing Lawson hurt UNC so much. He could have put up 20 pts on Paulus without even breaking a sweat.

I would ove to see a UCLA/ UNC match up. Love & hansborough battling in the paint (I dont think there are two big men who play harder), Collison and Lawson at the point. Westbrook shutting down Ellington... I'll take the bruins Wink

That would be a great game! Great matchups and great tradition!

I think, however, that this year may just belong to the Jayhawks.

Watching teams other than Oregon. Ater getting blown out against Stanford - a good team, but geez, they just clobbered the Ducks - earning a position in the Tournament is not looking good for the U of O. NIT anyone? Wink

As the owner of a company that manufactures raw materials that are used heavily in the sporting goods industry, one of my big benis is that I am given is a large number of tickets to collegiate sporting events. Because of this, I have been to many BB games this season. Among the games that I have been to this season are USC vs. UCLA @ Pauley, Memphis vs. USC @ Madison Square, Memphis at Cincinnati, Duke vs. UNC @ Chapel Hill, Kansas @ Kansas State, Tennessee at Xavier, Butler at Valparaiso, yada, yada, yada. I have been to Pauley to see UCLA play multiple lesser opponents and I’ve also been to Cameron for several Duke games. While I think that UCLA is one of the best teams I’ve seen this year, I think that Memphis is the team to beat this year. They are so talented at all positions this year and while they may play in a lesser conference, I just do not see them getting beat in the big dance. Tennessee might beat them in the regular season but Calipari will have everything figured out when it matters the most. Memphis is VERY strong. Kansas State is a team that I can see giving a lot of teams headaches this year. Beasley is a beast!!! Also, he will be the first player picked in the draft. Huggins may have only been at K-State 1 year but he sure left a big impression there that is influencing the team that they now have.

UNC survived a tough 2 OT game against Clemson and The Streak lives -- 53 wins/0 losses vs. Clemson in Chapel Hill.

Great game by Tyler Hansbrough, of course, and great game by Oakland native, Quentin Thomas who subbed for injured Ty Lawson and had 6 pts. 9 assists and 3 boards against withering pressure from Clemson. He also sent the game into the first and second overtime with a key score and 2 FTs.

With Kansas losing last night Tennessee may move up to 3rd. Pretty good battle on the 23rd with #1 Memphis vs #3 Tennessee. I'm glad I'll be there.
