First pre-season poll came out and my bruins are#2 (although they received the most 1st place votes). Doesn'treally matetr but what the heck...

Can't wait to see the suffocating defense with Love and Mata-Real in the middle and Mbah Moute playing the 3. Collison is going to be a nightmare for any PG their schedule now. Trying to figure out which team they play will be first to only score single digits in a half.

Also, I think Westbrook is going to be a pleasant surprise off the bench and Roll is going to light it up from 3 with teams doubling down on Love.

Oh yeah, that Shipp guy ain't bad either.

Go Bruins!

Cool

scary how much depth this team has, even moreso then the 94-95 team that won the NCAA title...

Love has all the potential in the world, and even though he's listed at C, i wouldnt be surprised to see Howland interchange him @ PF w/ Mata playing C early on while he learns the defense, either way with Mbah a Moute it's an imposing front court and with Collison & Shipp in the backcourt... Big Grin

OJ who? Mayonnaise? Simpson? Wink

(kidding, kid will be a star but UCLA will have more glory)

Since the football season could go from marginal to disasterous in the next few weeks, thank god for basketball. My (basketball) Spartans look pretty good this year.

GO GREEN!!!

The coaches voted my Heels to start the season #1. Hope they're right! The football season hasn't gone so well with my Noles.

Bump-

Only comment on UCLA's first exhibiton game is the injuries..Collison sprains his knee, Shipp his thumb, Roll ruptures his fascia (in practice)....way too early for this crap. Bruins fought through a ton of injuries last year as well.

As a U of A Wildcat fan (#12 preseason), I cannot wait for Basketball season to start! Hopefully this year we can improve our Point Guard Play, and make it past the 1st round of the big dance!!!

I also hope the Pac-10 can live up to the hype of 6 teams in the Top 25! Eek

You guys beat me to it starting this thread, but thanks for getting it up.

This should be another great year. I have not studied the teams well, but obviously UNC, UCLA, Kansas and Georgetown all have good teams that could experience that "one shining moment".

The Gators will be better than everyone thinks, but making the tourney could be a good year. My other school, Davidson, could be one of those mid-majors that give people problems. Stephen Curry is a big time player. My son's school, Wake Forest, is waiting for their good recruiting class to hit campus next season.

Not that Youngstown St is any sort fo a test but it is good to see UCLA blowing out the teams they should. All I kept thinkign as I watched the game last night is "how good will they be when they have Collison, Roll and Keefe healthy?"

Roll is their 6th man and best 3 point shooter. he will be even more deadly with Love in the middle. I think Keefe will be a pleasant surprise off the bench and provide valuable minutes. Don't need ot say anythign about Collison but I think this experience is great for Westbrook at the point, but he is so much better playing the 2 and using his athleticism.

My favorite lineup- Collison at the point, Shipp at the 2, Mbah Moute at the 3, Love at the 4 and Mata at center.

UNC dodged a bullet tonight, barely beating a very pesky Davidson team. I was scared the season was going to start for UNC like it did for Michigan in football.

I predicted that Davidson would have a good team this season. If the Cats can follow up with good performances against UCLA and Duke, then they should get a good seed (better than their usual 12 to 15) in March. Davidson may be the team that the big boys do not want to face in March.

The Gators are getting big contributions from their freshman class. Until they play a real team, who knows how good they are. With yesterdays five new signees, better beat UF this year. Next season UF will be a final four contender.

Davidson gave my Tar Heels all they wanted. Heels fans knew they would as Davidson returned all 5 starters from last year's 29-5 season.

Davidson should beat dook when they play in a couple of weeks and I think they'll be in the Top 25 in short order. They're that good.

Yo Redhawk- that must've been PAINFUL to watch. Looking so good in the first half only to wear down in the second and lose the lead with 30 seconds to go.

I was glad to see the bruins show the heart to come back. I can't wait until Collison, Roll & keefe are healthy and back to playing condition. Look out.

theres no shame in losing to an undefeated Top 10 team by 2, even at home... but it was defeating to see them down by 16, at home, at one point

btw, i dont see you cheering anyone PH... pretty easy to be part of the backseat jeerings squad Razz

i wouldn't worry too much.

they lost to west virginia at home last year...they'll come around come tourny time.

btw a fun fact i saw a few years ago, UCLA has always won the national title if they were ranked first at the beginning of the season.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...fortunately no one will go undefeated.

Not to make excuses (ok I am), you have to remember that this was Collison's 2nd game back after being off for 3 weeks and the first time they used that starting line up. Roll also played a bit (he looked rusty).

Texas played great (although Augustin's heave toward the hoop as he fell out of bounds turning into an alley oop makes me want to puke)...but give the bruins a month or two to get some practices under the belt with the full team and bring Keefe back and I'll give you Texas and 10 points.

I was a little concerned about Davidson this weekend but after the Bruin's loss at home to Texas, I just feel bad for them. I expect a huge game from Love...I am going to say 22 points and 15 rebounds.
