Hey all,

Has anyone any experience with AT&T advanced TV. I hate Comcast and I don't want to go through the hassle of DirecTV if te AT&T option is as good or better... Thoughts?

tia!

Advanced TV is a blanket statement from AT&T that includes U-verse (or Fios TV), Dish and HomeZone. It's dependent on your area as to what is offered.

Personally, I have never been happy with AT&T services over the last 10 years or so. I keep moving away from them and yet they keep buying the companies I use to avoid them. Their recent purchase of Bellsouth/Cingular once again makes me an unfortunate customer of AT&T. Their customer service is horrible and their quality of service always degrades after they swallow up the previous company. My Blackjack no longer updates the time correctly and randomly drops calls, my ISP bandwidth has dropped in half and their spam filter blocks legitimate email (and then they blame the originator from such nefarious companies like Fidelity or Netflix).

Did I fail to mention that I think AT&T is a horrible company?

ps: go with DirecTV. Make sure you get a package at the same cost or better that Comcast offers. I got a free upgrade to HD and an HD recorder.

Couldn't agree more.

If it weren't for the fact that my cable is paid through my association dues, I would not use Comcast. But all I have to pay for is the HD service, so it becomes cost effective. Otherwise, I would go with DirecTV, which I use to have when I lived in a city that had its own cable service, which was worse than Comcast or Adelphia. The only negative with DTV here in S. Fla is the loss of signal in the numerous storms here.

Same here...I really wish some class action attorney would actually do something useful and get the association cable contracts ruled unconstitutional on anti-competitive grounds.

I've heard good things about Verizon FIOS, which I would love to switch to, but not enough to pay for Bright House via the HOA and FIOS.

I've had DirecTV, and while I loved it, it was useless at times because of the storms....so inky you can remove the "S" in front of Fla on that one Big Grin

I think that recent law has enabled this. Read something about it recently but does not affect me.

As for a dish. Had it hated it. Every time a thunerstorm came by lost signal. Needless to say Jean, Francis, and Wilma were no help. Smile

Friends of mine in the northern Atlanta suburbs swtiched from cable to AT&T's U-Verse (IPTV, DSL, etc.) and have positive things to say about it. The picture quality of the HD channels is much better than it was from the cable co. It's being rolled out in the South East pretty slowly. The website to check your availability is here. At the time the availability page didn't work correctly and you had to end up calling the 800 # to actually find out if its available in your area. If you can get it, I say go for it.

Same here. My cousin works for them, formerly in their defunct AT&T Lucent division. They drove their own service into the ground, so they bought up Cingular. And they keep cutting her staff while increasing their quotas. I don't know why she stays.
