They only had Italian wine at first. For survival reasons they now have French (got a nice Chinon there), Spanish, Italian, Australian and even some domestic.
There are plent of good wine shops. IMHO, the best two are San Diego Wine Co. and Vintage wines. Interestingly, they are within 2 miles of each other. San diego wine Co. has the best prices and an awsome staff. Vintage wines has more high end bottlings and rare stuff. Both have saturday tastings. Avoid Wine Sellar and Brassarie for take home wine purchases. They are way overpriced for the area. Wine Sellar does have a nice restaurant with free corkage if you buy a bottle in the store downstairs. Wine sellar also has a nice Saturday wine tasting lunch. Bacchus is OK, but the owner is kind of a dork.

If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

Red guy, Good to see another person from San Diego here. If you are interested, some of us forum members get together about once a month for a tasting. Let us know if you are interested.
spo: Definitiely interested. I have been trying to start a new tasting group in my neighborhood with little success. My main problem is finding any free time. I have two kids under the age of four. Enough said! Let me know when you plan to meet.
