just had friends stay here (fairly seasoned travelers) -- they said it was a fantastic bargain and strongly recommend this establishment. Not only that but after they left and headed to Calistoga, on the way out of town stopped back in to grab lunch. Not the norm for hotel fare.

We are the friends alluded to by Pinot Envy. Right now, they have a $119/night special available on the internet. This place is worth twice that (given that we are talking about Napa Valley). The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lots of amenities. The bed was a tad hard for us -- they sent up several egg crate mattesses! But the real lure here is the food. Their $10 breakfast meals feature the highest quality ingredients. Lunches, at about the same price, are equally excellent. The chefs here could easily be in a high-end, frou-frou place. I will go back here, if only for the meals.

Pinot and HDW Thanks for the comments. I think we will give them a try.

You guys may want to check out www.tripadvisor.com before you book this hotel. I always go check out their site and get the reviews. The reviews weren't very good for this hotel.

tripadvisor: perhaps the most completely useless website on the internet. Wildly varying opinions based on entirely different criteria from completely unknown people. A hotel we stayed in last year had as its last 4 ratings 1/4/5/5 (out of 5). The idiot who gave it 1 claimed he couldn't get a sandwich with the filling he wanted, and then they charged him for the alternate sandwich he was forced to order. No mention of the room, etc. We booked anyway. Two-star hotels in Paris get rated higher than 5-star. If you've ever seen or stayed in a 2-star hotel in Paris, you'd recognized the humour in that immediately. Personally, I'd be giving a LOT more weight to the opinion of someone who's respected in a forum in which I participate than the faceless strangers who crap out on internet advisory sites like that one. Sorry for the little rant, but I think that website is one that demonstrates all that's wrong with the information highway.

I've not done breakfast or lunch at Siena, the restaurant in the hotel property, so can't comment on that. As for dinner, done that once, nothing to write home about, typical hotel fare, look elsewhere.
