Thanks to bman for suggesting this place.

It was easier to find than he suggested. The entrance is right next to the half price theater ticket outlets on the east side of Leicester Square. What a great place! Fantastic character down in the basement.

I decided to sit at the bar, since I was by myself. The wine by the glass selection, while not extensive, was more than adequate and quite interesting. There was obviously some thought that had gone into it. They also had an extensive list of wines by the bottle. I started with a glass of 2006 Oliver Tricon Domaine de Vauroux Chablis while I looked at the menu. I opted to follow bman's suggestion and went with the steak sandwich -- a good choice. With the sandwich, I started with a glass of 2005 Domaine Michel Pionard Crozes Hermitage and finished with 2006 San Jacopo Chianti Classico Vicchiomaggio.

I would definately recommend this place for those looking for a place to get a drink in London.

After that I headed up to The Palace Theater for Monty Python's Spamalot. Overall, an enjoyable way to spend an evening when you are by yourself.

Thanks for the good recommendation! Sounds like a bar to visit next time I'm in London. How was Spamalot?

Spamalot was pretty much what I expected (and what I was in the mood for that night) -- a funny and entertaining show. It certainly won't win any musical awards.

I think I've been to this wine bar...it's quite big with very tall wine racks behind the bar? Right across from the huge Odeon theater? Wow, this image in my mind is bringing back memories of London...
