Hello All.

Ok, I'm going with the hubby to Margaux in September.

I would like to visit the Grand Cru wineries, any idea how to make appts. I read that you can sometimes have a dinner at the Chateau Mouton Rothchild. This is something that we would enjoy.

Also since the Chateau Margaux does not sell direct, any tips on where to buy would be appreciated.

Any and all suggestions would be most welcome.

We are staying at the Relais du Margaux and we will have a rental car.

thank you

I'll just throw in a couple ideas for dining. Not too far from Margaux is a little town Arcins, and there is a restaurant there called Le Lion d'Or - highly recommend it. The owner is hilarious - he doesn't speak english and my french is atrocious but he made me laugh nonetheless. Really feels like a local joint, food excellent.

If you go into the city at all I can't recommend La Tupina enough - best bistro I've ever eaten at.

You'll drive past Ch Margaux every day going to and from the Relais - so at least stop and look around. I haven't been to that hotel since they did some construction a couple years ago, but it's a good base for the Medoc at least.

As for buying wine, I'd stay away from first growths like Ch Margaux - the caves (wine shops) are no bargains, better just to buy it here in the US. If you want to bring wine home, better to find stuff that doesn't make it to the US.

Hi, thank you I've taken note of the restaurants, sounds good to me. Yes, I want to go to Ch. Margaux.

I was not going to bring the first growths, I didn't think there would be bargains, plus the hassle of shipping I will look for some nice sutff that doesn't make it here.

We are planning to do a day trip to St. Emillion as well.

Thank you for all your suggestions, sounds really good to me.
