I'm planning a trip to Paso Robles. Any rec's on:

1) which wineries to visit? I only want the very best

2) where to stay. I'm a little more value oriented here, don't want top of the line. A cute B&B at a respectable price would be ideal.

Thanks!

Not sure about their tastings but don't miss Saxum. I also really like Linne Calodo.

I'd hit Garettson winery and tablas creek if you like rhone varietls. I would think justin winery would be a good bet too.

We skipped Garettson. We went to Tablas and liked it - didn't love but liked. Justin was awful and a waste of time. Plus, I didn't like their attitude.

Best ones were Denner, Booker & Linne Calodo.

Zinerator hit the nail on the head. Denner, Booker and Linne Calodo are must visits, and I would also stop by L'Aventure and Villa Creek. If your senses allow, stop by Four Vines which are doing nice wines at an equally nice price. I have been going to Paso for over a decade and the westside area around these wineries are the stars.
The 3rd weekend in March is the Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival where all the wineries will have special wines to pour, food, art and just a good ol' time. Check it out on pasowine.com. Have fun!!

I'd recommend Turley, Zin Alley, and Clautiere (on the east side).

I know you're already back, but I want to put in my two cents worth now that I have an ID.
We like Opalo, Turley and Windward. Windward as much for the wine as for the adorable gal behind the bar from Bordeaux.
When we go to Paso Robles we usually stay in Cambria. If we're going for a week we rent a house, otherwise we stay at one of the motels on Moonstone Beach Dr.
